☕ Life Update May - June 2018: Busy & Eventful Months!

Being a sleepy girl with a busy life is hard...

Hi!! OMG, these past couple of months were super busy work wise. Especially June, since we're only a week away from Summer break, there was a LOT to do and finish. Since I already started talking about work, I'll get to that part first and then move on to the rest of the updates.
Where to begin? ... I believe I mentioned something about a 40 hour teachers course that was driving me crazy in last life update~ well, I finally finished it after over 2 months of postponing it for whatever reasons (mostly me being lazy). Cuz I always end up doing things last minute, all stressed and feeling I'm not gonna finish on time~
On May 15th I celebrated my first Teacher's Day at the new school and as an Elementary School Teacher. It was such a special one because of all the nice and sweet details us teachers recieved from our students and their parents.
We also had Mother's Day and Father's Day event, both were fun but tiring; demonstration classes and final exams. Whoever thinks being a Teacher is an easy job, let me tell you you're wrong! I love it but, there's a lot of work behind it, people don't get to see.
Ah! I was also invited to an English presentation with the highschool students to check their work and ask them some questions about it. I admit I was very nervous at first but, in the end, I had a lot of fun, learned a lot and had a new and different experience. I feel like everyday I learn and grow as a teacher.

Moving on, I celebrated another birthday on June 3th and I wanna thank everyone who took the time to send a b-day message, all the hugs, surprises and celebrations. I had a special and very celebrated one. I didn't do a Birthday pressiesI feel like these months gave many gifts like opportunities, people, answers and more plans to come.

I don't think I mentioned this before but, I've been really into bullet journaling lately. My friend Lu had a very fun and interesting workshop where I got to learn more about Bullet journaling and how to make it work for me, my life and needs. I has been helping me to be a lot more organized and of course, use my creativity to decorate it they way I like. Can't wait for the next one!

And lastly, I was planning to make June a month full of "Get to know me" posts because of the b-day and stuff but... life just got so busy and I've been getting sick a lot lately so, I could only share like 3... hehe. I had no time to blog much as well as vlogging... I have some blog posts coming soon as well as a video... Hopefully Summer break will give me enough time to work on all that.
Anyway, if you wanna watch some vlogs, go to my Youtube MonStar's Little Vlog and I'll see you around here soon!!

Summer break, HERE WE GO!

Get to know me | 25 things I love about me |

Hi there!
Here comes another "Get to know me" post~ Sometimes I feel it's easier for us to talk about our flaws and the things we don't like about ourselves, I'm guilty of that! I wanted to change that a little bit and sit down to think positive things in me, things I like about me. It wasn't an easy task tho~
Dunno why I've been making these posts into lists but, here are 25 things I like about me:

1. I am a very loyal person. It is hard for me to let people in my life but, once I do, I am very loyal to those I love. I'm like a puppy who won't leave their side and support them no matter what.

2. I never deny who I am. I am the way I am and I like what I like. Maybe people can think I'm too childish, too silly or even weird but, that's the way I am and I'm happy to be this way.

3. I am a good friend.

4. My obsession with halloween and everything horror related.

5. How loud I am. Especially when I'm with my friends. My voice can be loud as well as my laugh. I'm sure some people could find it annoying tho

6. My job and how and how my students see me as a role model. Teaching has to be one of the most rewarding things in my life, I enjoy every second of it. But I'm also aware of the responsibility it comes with.

7. I get along with children. I guess because I'm so used to work with kids, I've learned to get along with them. Talk about their interests and what they like. It's funny to think how I disliked kids many years ago~

8. I like to learn from others.

9. How people always say I look younger.

10. I'm a good listener.

11. How movies and shows can make me cry easily. I'm an emotional person!

12. I never stop dreaming. And I'm working to make those dreams become true.

13. How girly I am.

14. I am a family person. In a way I know my family will always come first.

15. I'm stubborn. I'm not sure if that's actually a quality but, I don't give up easily.

16. I'm not afraid to make fun of myself. I'm a silly person and I can't change that.

17. How childish I still am. I still have a girl's heart, and yeah, I feel like I still hold on to that a lot but, I feel that way adulting doesn't seem to be so boring.

18. How much I enjoy to sing even if I'm not good at it.

19. How naive I can be sometimes.

20. I never thought of myself as a creative person but, I try.

21. I appreciate good grammar even tho I don't think I'm perfect at it.

22. I believe in goblins.

23. How I can sometimes fit in kid's clothes and shoes. Yup, I'm that small.

24. How some people think I'm all put together when I'm actually a lazy mess.

25. I'm becoming a lot more independent with time.

This is not supposed to be a tag kind of thing but I'd love to invite my fellow bloggers (or anyone who feels like it) to share some things they love about them. It feels nice to admit we all have great things and witing them down makes them feel more...real?

Get to know me |15 things I've learned about life... so far!|

Hello loves!
For the past few years, I feel like I've been learning a lot from evey single experience I've had, good or bad. Some were learnt the hard way but they helped me to grow a lot as a person. I feel like I'm finally myself again and since I'm celebrating another birthday today, I wanted to share some of those things that make me feel...well, a little wiser.
I'm only sharing 15 cuz I feel like this is going to be one long post to read...

1. It is better to have a few good and true friends than many fake ones. I was never the kind of person who had way too many friends but, some of those "friends" were actually very fake people. The kind of people who would talk behind your back, people who would tell you what you wanna hear just to be accepted. Then I just decided to let that people go, I don't need that kind of negativity in my life and there was no reason for me to feel tied to them. Now, even tho I can count my friends on one hand (or two!), I know they are real friends who will tell me if I'm wrong, who will encourage me to do great things and always be better. And also, people I admire and who always inspire me.

2. There is no need to rush, things will happen when they are meant to happen. I'm the kind of person who would worry so much about things not happening when I wanted them to happen or when I thought they were supposed to happen. Like yeah, there are so many things I wish I had at this point in my life but, I've learned that you just gotta let things flow and work for what you want and they will happen. The more you want to force them, the less they will happen. There's nothing bad with daydreaming a little too tho~

3. Being alone doesn't mean you're lonely. I'm not sure how to explain this but it took me a while to understand that it's ok to be alone every now and then and it doesn't mean you're lonely. Dealing with the idea of being on my own wasn't exactly my favorite but with time I became a lot more independent. I love to have people I love around me but in the end, I know I can't depend on them 100%.

4. It's ok to be sad. There was a time in my life when I was always happy, no matter what happened, I always smiled and pretended everything was just fine but, once I couldn't do that anymore, I exploded and had what I like to call an emotional breakdown. I was feeling so sad and down all the time, I didn't find the things I love exciting anymore and I felt people around me expected me to just move on and be the same, old happy Mon they knew. It was a scary feeling. It took me forever to feel myself again but I also learned that, you don't need to have a miserable life to feel sad, and it's only human to cry, feel blue and let it all out. You can take your time to understand and deal with those emotions but, you can't be stuck there forever. Only you can choose to feel better.

5. Hold the vision, trust the process. A friend told me this years ago, and I have to say it's my favorite. I do believe that if you want something with all your heart (as cheesy as it sounds) and you never lose that idea, that vision, it will come true eventually. Of course you gotta work for it and make an effort. It doesn't matter if it takes many detours, it will come to you. ♡

6. Letting go is one of the hardest things to do but it does set you free. And I'm talking about letting go of many things here: certain feelings, things, people, a job that oesn't make you happy, etc... I'm a very apprehensive person but last year I decided to start letting go. It is a long process and it's scary most of the time but, it'll make you feel better eventually. I'm still working on it tho, but I think I'm improving.

7. Believe in yourself. This is still in process but, I'm getting there. Even if it's about the small things, I want to believe I can. I can do whatever I decide to do and, I deserve great things.

8. Dream big but, make it happen. It's easy to dream and want things but the important and exciting part is, what are you going to do to make it happen? You gotta work hard to get what you dream. It's great to get some help in the way but it won't always be like that so, work for it yourself!

9. Things do happen for a reason. Even if I don't like the way some things are, I do believe they happen to make us stronger and learn from it. Sometimes we have to reach bottom to realize we need a change.

10. It's ok to think of yourself first. I can't say I don't have a conflict here anymore cuz I do, especially when it comes to my family. I always think about them first, what they want or need. But even tho they will always be my #1 I know I have to think of me too, my needs and plans.

11. It's not your job to make everyone happy. For some reason, I spent a big part of my life trying to solve everyone's problems, finding ways to fix things that were not even supposed to be part of my problems. Giving people what they needed to achieve certain things and even sacrificed part of what I wanted to do for others. I kinda assumed that "job". With time I realized I can't please everyone, I can't fix people's lives and dreams because...it's exhausting! Of course I'll help as much as I can but I won't take every single problem or situation as if it was mine.

12. Only YOU can change your life. I was always used to depend on others, always wanted help and wanted to feel protected from my own problems until I had to face them alone. That's when I realize I can't depend on people to change my life, only my choices and actions will help me to get to a better place. I know I have awesome people around me to support me or guide me but, in the end is up to me how to use that help or follow advices.

13. Do what you love, who cares what others think? Some people will always say "you're too young/to old" to do a certain thing, act in a certain way or like certain things. I admit it, I'm way too childish and some people may think it is wrong but, who cares? It is my life and as long as I'm taking care of my "adult things" in a responsible way, I can be or like whatever I want.
There's no book that says you should get married at a certain age, have children, stop dressing up, blah blah blah~ I'll do whatever makes me happy.

14. It's ok to say NO when you feel like it. I still find it hard to say "no", especially when it comes to work related stuff. But I think I'm getting better at it on the personal field(?). I don't hang around people I don't want in my life, I don't go somewhere if I don't feel like it and I don't do things if I just don't want to. I know I'm not the first or last one to do it and, as long as I'm not hurting anyone, it's ok.

15. Do everything with love.

I'll stop here, hehe. These are only a few things I've learned so far. If you made it to the end, big yay! And thanks. I know there's still a lot for me to learn on this journey called life.

May Favorites 2018: Beauty, stationery & others

Goodbye May, you went by too fast~ I'll be a year older in a couple of days and...I'M NOT READY YET! (>3<)

Hello everyone! It's time to take a look at the favorites of the month... then again, I don't think I have those many this time but, let's take a look!!

BEAUTY

I finally started trying some makeup from MINISO and I have to say that I'm liking them a lot more than what I thought I would. One of the products I've been loving is the Lip Sweetness Double Color Lipstick. As the name says, it has two colors in one to help you create a gradient lips effect. I personally really like this look so I was super excited when I finally found these lippies. The one I got is #03 "Cherry Red". Even tho the name says red, it is more of a bright pink combined with a very (almost tranparent) nude-ish color. I won't go into much deets right now because I do plan to dedicate a separate post about them but yeah, defo one of my favorite lippies this month.

An other lip product I've been reaching for a lot this month is a lip gloss my mom sent me from Spain a while ago, it's the Beauty Paris Lip Gloss in "party". I don't really go for red colors but for some reason, this one doesn't feel too red to me, maybe because it is a gloss after all~ Thing is, I found a way to create a decent gradient look using it, without worrying about my lips looking dry. The formula isn't really sticky and it's smells like cherries!

STATIONERY

I mean, this is not a favorite of this month, I'm always obsessed with cute stationery. I use it a lof for work but also for random things such as working on my journal and stuff. But I had to include the latest addition because well, they are just too cute and I love them.
I got this set of 6 kawaii animal highlighters from La Pape de Maria Lucrecia where you can find really cure stationery and bullet journal inspo. They are not only absolutely cute, they also have a different fruity scent each. ♡

RANDOM

I've been meaning to buy popsicle molds for a while now and, I finally did! Found bunny ones so I thought they were perfect! I've made some basic fruity ones but I really want to try making yogurt and matcha popsicles.

PRESSIES

I know this was a one-day thing but, if I had to choose a highlight of the month, it'd have to be this gift we got from our student's parents for teacher's day. It was the sweetest surprise and everyting was personalized.

And that is it for this months favs. Feel free to share with me some of your favorites and, I'll see you next time!!

✏ Teacher chit chat #2: Teacher Tag! | 20 Questions |

It's teachers day and instead of going for a teacher's day pressies post I decided to go for a Teacher tag! I really enjoy doing these and it'll help you to get to know more about that side of me and my job.
Here we go!

1. What do you teach?
English.

2. How long have you been teaching?
For about 7 years now. (Time flies!)

3. Did you always know you wanted to be a teacher?
Nope, it's funny because I used to hate the idea of becoming a teacher, it was never on my plans but, it was my first official job and I loved it.

4. What is your typical #teacherootd?
I don't think I have a typical one but something I do try to go for, are comfortable shoes. Flats mostly.

5. What do you usually bring for lunch?
It depends. Like, right now I don't really stay at school for too long so I don't bring lunch with me. On those days when I have an earlier start I bring some coffee with me. (And I always have sweets in my bag so, yeah)

6. What is one of your favorite teacher movies?
Mmm... I've seen teacher movies but I don't think they are exactly the most inspirational ones out there. One of my faves is "Innocent thing" (I wonder if it can be considered a teacher movie tho...)

7. Who was your favorite teacher?
My french teacher when I was studying Fashion Design. She was the sweetest!

8. Who are some of your favorite teacher YouTubers/instagrammers/snapchatters, etc?
To be honest, I don't follow many teacher accounts in there so, I'd say Meejmuse (who is a former teacher) and my teacher friends Tomi and Lu (both have a YT channel, IG and blogs so, it counts!)
If you have any suggestion for me to follow, let me know!

9. What is one of your best classroom management tips?
I'd say always keep the students active, and try to work different activities so that children won't lose interest

10. What is one reason you decided to become a teacher?
I realized I really enjoyed doing it after my first year. I was taking it as a temporary job while deciding what I really wanted to do and... surprisingly, I loved it.

11.What grades have you taught?
1°, 2° and 3° of preschool and I'm currently working with 1° and 2° of elementary school.

12.What grade do you teach?
1° and 2° of elementary school ↑↑

13.How many students are in your class?
15 in 1° and 9 in 2° at the moment

14.What's your ideal class size?
I've had groups with more than 20 kids so I'd say 15 is a decent/ideal size

15.What's your favourite drink from Starbucks?
This is random but, Cranberry white mocha. Pumpkin Spice and Green tea latte

16.What's your favourite online resource?
I used to check Teachers Pay Teachers a lot but I don't have a favorite resourse, I try different sites.

17.Describe your perfect classroom.
I don't have an ideal classroom...that'll change when I get my own

18.Whats your favourite part about teaching?
Sharing with my students my love for a language, knowing that I can do something positive for the kids I work with and the fact that I'm not only teaching, I'm also learning.

19.What's your least favourite part about teaching?
All the side work it comes with... paperwork, planning, extra hours, exams, all that not-so-fun stuff

20.What advice would you give a beginning teacher or someone who wants to become a teacher?
If you want to teach, you have to do it because you feel passionate about it, it's not an easy job, it can be stressful but, it's very rewarding. Knowing you have such impact on your students makes it all worth it.

Fellow teacher-bloggers out there, feel free to answer these questions too, I'd love to read your answers! And, Happy Teachers day!
