Rurouni Kenshin The Beginning + More on my old Kaoru cosplay

Hello again from my old Kaoru cosplay ^^

Guyssssss! Last Saturday I finally watched the last Rurouni Kenshin Movie, The Beginning and OMG my heart just can't!

In my opinion it was the darkest and saddest of them all, also felt like the longest one. And even tho Battousai Kenshin was hot, my heart was broken to see him so sad throughout the movie. I even cried, no joke.

This movie was focused on Kenshin's past, when he was Battousai the slayer and met Yukishiro Tomoe, his first love who was also killed by him. If you love RuroKen, you know how this sad, but beautiful in a way, story goes. It is also an important movie cuz it shows the origin of his very famous, X shaped scar and the reason why Kenshin changed from battousai to a loving and caring person.

Like I mentioned in my previous Rurouni Kenshin post, I've always had mixed feelings about Tomoe but I really enjoyed watching her in this movie. She was very well portrayed and well... she was beautiful! Such a lady, hehe. She also had a sad and difficult life after losing her fiance by Kenshin's hand~ I think Kasumi Arimura did a great job playing her.

We all can agree that Battousai Kenshin has a completely different vibe than Rurouni Kenshin and Take-san did an AMAZING job showing that. He played both sides of Kenshin perfectly! My heart was racing all the time as I was watching the movie. 

Once again the fighting scenes, which were many more and bloodier this time, were perfect! The characters movements and feelings involved in the fights felt so real!

Last time I forgot to mention the music. I'm not someone who pays much attention to who directs music and stuff. All I can say is the "background music" complemented the scenes pretty well and the songs by One Ok Rock are always great.

Lastly I want to say that yes, I enjoyed watching Tomoe and Kenshin's story but... I NEVER GOT TO SEE A KISS BETWEEN KAORU AND KENSHIN AND WE HAD ONE BETWEEN TOMOE AND KENSHIN!!! 😭NOT FAIR!!!!

This one was definitely one of my favorites and as excited as I was to watch it, it's also sad because it is the last live action movie. I'd really love it if they decided to do one more live action with some Kenji in it. I am 1000% obsessed with Rurouni Kenshin again and I might end up rewatching the show, OVAs and live action movies. Hehe

Now, around the time I shared my previous RuroKen post, someone suggested me to write a post about my "cosplay era", thing is I don't think there was such thing. Cuz when my friends and I decided to do cosplay, it was very randomly and nothing too professional, hehe.

And well, since my RuroKen feels are back, I went through some of my old pics to find more of my Kaoru cosplay. I'll leave some here.

Funny thing is, many people keep telling me I look like Tomoe but no... I was supposed to be Kaoru.

Those pics are from 2012!! OMG, time flies. But that day was a lot of fun. Looking at them made me feel a little nostalgic, those were the good old days. :') I'd do many things different if I were to dress as Kaoru again tho.

I remember I dyed my hair black using hair spray paint and... it was a mess!! my hair was stiff and my forehead was all dirty, luckily it didn't show because of my bangs (which are back now, btw).

I was also wearing contact lenses, and they hurt my eyes badly! They were super sore at the end of the day. And even tho my kimono wasn't the real thing (obviously) it was super uncomfortable to walk around all day. I still have it somewhere tho, maybe I'll dress up as Kaoru again one day. For Halloween or something.

My Experience with... Cosplay.

It's no secret I love to dress up, it can be for Halloween, an special event or sometimes...conventions. 

I wouldn't say I'm a Cosplayer, and I never claimed to be, somehow some people think that doing it for fun every once in a while makes you one. I don't live from it, I don't do it professionally and I don't even think I'm that good, hehe. There's a lot I wish I could improve every time I cosplay.

But honestly, I just do it for fun!

Now that I think about it, I don't even do it that often but I do have to say I enjoy it a lot. It's like, becoming someone else for a few hours, you can just be whoever you like without losing who you are.

Whenever I cosplay, I usually try to have my hair as close as the character I'm about to play, I haven't used wigs yet but I guess I will someday. Dying my hair or choosing a character that has her hair as close to mine as possible at the moment are usually my first options~ When we decide to go for it, we usually don't have enough time to work on the whole costume, that's why sometimes I end up fixing my hair, doing my best to make it look like the character's. So yeah, I should improve that to look better~~~~~ hehehe.

For my makeup, I never try to look cartoonish! I always think, "How would a certain character do her makeup if she was real?" Like, if she's young and sweet, I do my makeup all natural and bubbly, but if I'm dressing up as someone sexy, I do a sexy looking makeup. I never go for cartoon face features. But of course, I try to respect the important features of certain characters such as moles, big/small eyes, etc. 

Sadly, I can't wear contacts, I tried twice and my eyes suffered a LOT! And trust me when I say a lot, it has been a painful experience!

As for the clothing, sometimes (and I mean it, sometimes!) I use my not-so-impressive fashion designer skills and work on a few parts of the outfit, but some others I buy a few things and fix them a little with some help as well.

And for me, that's it! I don't like getting into cosplay contests, I just do it to have fun and feel a little like a different character. I won't say I don't enjoy the attention and the photos, cuz I really do. and it's funny how much love you feel from people who actually love the character you're playing! It's so cute!

Finally, here are some photos from some anime characters I've done. Not too many tho! And I still think that if I ever decide to dress up as them again, there's a lot I need to change to make them better.

Yoko Litner (And my sis as Nia Teppelin). And even tho I never actually dressed up as Yoko to go to a convention, I still want to! It was just for photos back then...I think I need to work on my body to be able to wear her outfit. (YES! My hair was that red back then!)

Orihime Inoue. I think she was my first official cosplay. The first time I dressed as her my hair was a lot shorter so yeah...not sharing pics of that! Hehe. It's funny how chubby my cheeks were!

Matsumoto Rangiku. As some of you know, Ran is one of my favorite characters ever! My hair was so dark back then cuz I was trying to get rid of the red hair and go back to a lighter color  (plus, that lighting makes it look darker) but, I was so desperate to cosplay her that...I didn't care much about the hair and went for it. I'm not too happy with it but, people liked it.

Kamiya Kaoru. Trying to avoid dying my hair black for this one, I used some black spray paint to make my hair look darker. It was all messy and it did stained my clothes a little but I think it looks ok in pictures~ hehe.

Petra Ral. This is my latest cosplay so far. I was way too excited to try the Scouting Legion uniform! And even Petra doesn't even make it to the end of the anime, she's one of my fav characters! Along with Levi Heichou. I wasn't ready to cut my hair as short as hers so I kept it a little longer but...the hair color didn't end up being as light as I wanted it due to the fact that I dyed it brown...it's so hard to take off without bleaching and I tried to change it in one day~~~ oh well, deffo trying this one again! 

As you see, I don't even have a long cosplay list! But I'm planning to add a few more with time!

Expo MAGyC + Mini Haul

Hello babies!!

Last weekend (Saturday) we went to another convention, this time it was a little different since we went for working purposes. My sister and my friend Kei had some very cute stuff to sell and I'm happy to say it went very well for the first time.
They sold beautiful handmade stuff. From plushies to accessories, stickers, etc.

We had a /very/ early start, to put everything together, we dressed up and had a long and busy but fun day. Also! We got reunited with some friends, and saw familiar faces!

I love to be able to be part of this kind of things with the girls. And I'm so proud of them! I'm not exactly the most crafty one of the group but I'm glad I could help somehow. It's always good to feel we support each other with the projects we have.

I finally had the chance to wear my Scouting Legion Uniform! I was way to excited to finally wear it! And even though my hair color wasn't the one I wanted, I was happy to be Petra Ral for a day~ hehe.

I am not a cosplayer or anything but, I'd really like to dress up as Petra again and maybe change a few deets to make it look better. (like my hair)

I didn't bought a lot of things as I usually do~~ don't know why. But here's a mini haul of what I got there.

♥ Kim Hyun Joong 10000 bill: I think this was the most random thing I bought, But it made me so happy! A crazy fangirl can't have enough~ hehe.

♥ Rilakkuma storage box: I want it to organise my makeup in a cute box.

♥ Levi Heichou marzipan. I feel bad for having to eat them, the Shirtless Heichou one was a gift from my friends and I bought the other one.

♥ Molang cell phone accessory

♥ Sailor Neptune 20th Anniversary mini figure. I don't have any Sailor Neptune dolls, I fell in love with this one! She's one of my fav Scouts.

♥ Pink bunny thermo: This was part of what my sister was selling that day~ It is super cute and it's available if you guys are interested! They come in 3 different colors and designs. (so far)

♥ Matcha Chocolate Pocky

♥ Baymax sticker. My friend Keisha gave it to me, we are all Baymax lovers!

And well... I'm sure we all were exhausted at the end of the day but, no regrets!! hehe.
