Movies & Shows I've Watched Lately~

I always find it hard to think of a good cover pic for these types of posts... I could always leave it without any pic but, it feels kinda weird~ Oh well.

So, I chose some of the movies and anime I "recently" watched and actually liked, to share with you guys in my second recs post of the year. I've been also watching some short horror films on Youtube and, thay has been fun cuz I used to love watching  those many years ago. I might make another post sharing those if you are interested.

Let's get started!

Pearl

"Trapped on an isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the watch of her mother. Lusting for the glamorous life she's seen in movies, Pearl's temptations and repressions collide."

This American thriller/drama starring Mia Goth was released back in September 2022. It took me forever to watch it but, I finally did.

It was good, different from what I expected but, I liked it. It felt a little slow at the beginning because it's very character focused, we're getting to know Pearl and her story but, it was still interesting. It is set in 1918 and, even tho it has some gory scenes, it's a movie that's kinda beautiful to watch (if that makes sense). The colors, the clothes, the landscapes, yeah. It is beautiful. I just found out there's a prequel and there will be a sequel that I'll be defo watching.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come 2

"After surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace discovers she's reached the next level of the nightmarish game, and this time with her estranged sister, Faith, by her side. To survive, Grace must keep Faith alive and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are also hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins will rule it all."

This American horror comedy premiered back in March 26th this year and, it's the sequel of Ready or Not. Despite the fact that I never watched Ready or Not, this moviee was one of my most anticipated ones this year because of my fav scream queen, Sarah Michelle Gellar. And I have to say, it didn't disappoint.

I already had an idea of what the previous movie was about but, at the beginning of this one, you get a pretty good summary so, it's easy to follow what's happening. I didn't expect to laugh so much while watching this movie cuz, I'm not a comedy person and I don't like comedy mixed with my horror but, this movie made it work. I feel like I hadn't enjoy a slasher this much in a long time. I'm defo going to watch the first one sometime this year, hehe.

Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain

"A deadly and mysterious master of the occult travels across feudal Japan, seeking malevolent spirits called Mononoke to slay. He must uncover their Form, Truth, and Reason to wield the mighty Exorcism Sword against them."

This is a 2024 Japanese animated psychological horror film, I was curious to watch it because I read so many great comments about it and, I mean, it is good but I didn't really feel the psychological horror part. I can say tho, it's a visually stunning film with lots of colors and details everywhere. It's hard to connect with the fact that is has a darker story. More than horror, it felt like suspence to me. And honestly? It was a little confusing. I don't know, I might have to rewatch it to understand it better and before I watch the sequel.

Perfect Blue

"A young Japanese singer is encouraged by her agent to quit singing and pursue an acting career, beginning with a role in a murder mystery TV show."

Perfect Blue is a Japanese animated psychological thriller from 1998. This was a rewatch for me since I watched it many years ago. I remember liking the movie but there was a lot I forgot. Watching it again, I still loved it. I always enjoy stalker movies and psychological horror but I feel like you have to pay attention to this movie 100%. There are so many things that jump between imagination and reality that, it's easy to get lost.
I'd watch this movie over and over again. Plus, the soundtrack is kinda catchy.

Oshi No Ko Season 3

"
Satisfied with his investigation of Lala Lai Theatrical Company, Aquamarine "Aqua" Hoshino shifts his focus from revenge to career growth and becomes a regular on the variety show Dig Deep! Chase the Impawsible. With memories of his mother still lingering in his mind, Aqua cuts contact with Kana Arima, leaving her unable to enjoy the surging popularity of her idol group, B-Komachi.

Meanwhile, following the bone-chilling discovery during B-Komachi's recent music video shoot, Aqua's sister, Ruby, resolves to solve the murders of those dearest to her. With the help of another soul still weighed down by Ai Hoshino's untimely demise, Ruby rises through the ranks, using any means necessary to get her way."

Third season of the anime, it premiered on January this year and was 11 episodes long. I watched it as it was airing.
I know I said I didn't enjoy the previous season as much but, this one was defo a little darker and more interesting. I believe the next season will be the last one. I'm looking forward to it.

Jujutsu Kaisen The Culling Game Part 1

"
Following the Shibuya Incident, "The Culling Game," a brutal game orchestrated by Noritoshi Kamo that imbues certain individuals with Jujutsu, suddenly unfolds across ten colonies nationwide. People's thoughts are intertwined, and the world once again marches towards a golden age era of sorcery"

It's the 3rd season of the anime, same as Oshi No Ko, it premiered on January this year. It has 12 episodes that just flew by. It was sooooo good, fights were great and, I just loved seeing my Megumi in action a lot. This girl was happy. Can't wait for part 2! In the meantime, I'll be rewatching season 2 and the movie. I'm obsessed!

And, that's it for now guys! As always, feel free to give me some suggestions or let me know if you like or have watched some of these.

I'll link my previous recs post in case you wanna check it out:

See you next time~!💋
