More Horror Movies I've Watched Lately

I wanted to make a Halloween Movies post this month but I have a lot of movies and shows I've watched lately that I want to share before the year is over or it'll feel like its super late (it already is, but, oh well~ It could give you some ideas in case you want to watch some horror this month.

These are in no particular order, I'm just gonna order the ones that are sequels so they can be one after the other. It makes more sense, right? Let's just do this.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

"The murderous fisherman with a hook is back to once again stalk the two surviving teens, Julie and Ray, who had left him for dead."

This movie is from 1998 and it's an American slasher film, sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. I never really watched it since my favorite characters were killed in the first movie but, I felt like watching it before the 3rd movie came out this year, just in case I was missing something important. And honestly? I didn't like it that much. I mean, it wasn't bad, it was just... bleh. I mean, it did feel like a continuation cuz the story wasn't exactly the same as the first one but, to me, there was something missing. I dont know.

And then we have the sequel to that one...

I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025

"A group of friends are terrorised by a stalker who knows about a gruesome incident from their past."

This is also an American slasher film that came out this year. I was kinda looking forwart to it and even tho it wasn't the best movie ever, I enjoyed the fan service soooo much more than the "new story". Which wasn't exactly new, it was pretty similar to the first movie, I didn't care much about the new characters and their stories, the killer reveal wasn't that cool but, it did have a good plot twist. Seeing Freddie Prinze Jr, Jennifer Love Hewitt and, especially, Sarah Michelle Gellar back in this movie, was the best part for me.

The end felt a little too silly for me tho. But there was a post credit scene that leaves things open to another movie. This time featuring Brandy too. Will I watch it? Probably, hehe.

These next two are rewatches because you know, I'm on my Sarah Michelle Gellar rewatch year.

The Grudge

"Karen is an American nurse living in Tokyo who is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse. The curse is a vengeful spirit that possesses a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and then spreads to another victim."

The Grudge is a 2004 supernatural horror film that, to me, feels like a classic. I remember I used to find it scary years ago. Now that I watched it again, it didn't feel as scary as I remembered but, it still made me jump a couple of times (mostly with the loud noises) and, I still liked it. Plus, it takes place in Japan, and we all know I love Japan way too much. That's an extra something. I feel like this could be a yearly rewatch for me, I like the story and I think it has aged well.

The Grudge 2

"Devious spirits created after the Saeki family was murdered still haunt the people and claim their victims. Aubrey, Karen's sister, goes to Tokyo to save Karen from the clutches of the evil spirit."

The Grudge 2 came out in 2006, and it's the sequel of The Grudge, this time, following Karen's sister. I liked this one but I still like the first one a lot more. That usually happens to me, I love the originals more than the sequels but, it was still good and I enjoyed it. Now that I'm writing this, I want to rewatch The Ring too, I used to love that movie so, so much. And I feel like they have a similar vibe even tho they are different stories.

The Black Phone

"Finney Shaw is a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who's being held in a soundproof basement by a sadistic, masked killer. When a disconnected phone on the wall starts to ring, he soon discovers that he can hear the voices of the murderer's previous victims -- and they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn't happen to Finney."

This is a 2021 supernatural American horror movie, it took me a while to watch it despite all the great things I heard about it but, it did not disappoint. It was good! It has some good jump scares, effects didn't feel or look fake and the story just kept me hooked. There's a sequel coming soon, and I'm sure I'll be watching it.

Heretic

"Two young missionaries become ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse when they knock on the door of the diabolical Mr. Reed. Trapped in his home, they must turn to their faith if they want to make it out alive."

This one was mom's recommendation and we actually watched it together. It is a psychological horror film that came out last year. Psychological horror has to be one of my favorite types of horror and if it's mixed with religion, win win for me. I'm so not religious but I find religious horror movies SO entertaining for some reason. I liked this one, it felt a little long and slow every now and then but, all in all, I enjoyed it. To me, the ending was a little surprising and it was different for me to see Hugh Grant playing this character. I haven't watched many of his movies but, for some reason, I always connect him with romantic comedies.

Longlegs

"FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes an unexpected turn, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again."

This is another movie that came out this year, it's an American horror thriller that I heard was one of the scariest movies this year. I had high expectations when I watched it which wasn't a good thing because, even tho it wasn't a bad movie, it just didn't do it for me. Yes, it had good scenes, tension and the story is good but, it felt a little slow. Plus, this might just me but, I thought some things were not that well explained.

Bring her back

"A brother and sister witness a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother."

Shortest summary ever, lol. Bring Her Back is a 2025 Australian supernatural horror movie. It's actually one of the most recent movies in this post. And I have to say that I defo recommend it. I really, really liked it. The story keeps you hooked until the end. There are some scenes that are very difficult to watch, and I think those were the ones I found the scariest. The story is good, one of the main topics here is grief and that is why I think it also worked for me. The end was sad tho, very sad. It didn't make me cry but, yeah...

Cuckoo

"Seventeen-year-old Gretchen reluctantly leaves America to live with her father at a resort in the German Alps. Plagued by strange noises and bloody visions, she soon discovers a shocking secret that concerns her own family."

Lastly we have Cuckoo, a 2024 German & American science fiction, horror, thriller movie (yes, those are too many genres in one). I watched this movie with high expectations and it just wasn't for me. Not saying it's bad but there were things I just didn't understand, it felt slow and the end just didn't work for me. I'm not a huge science fiction fan so maybe that had something to do with it. Worst movie ever? Nope but, I don't think I'd rewatch this one.

And those are some of the horror movies I've watched lately. My mom sent me this October Movie Calendar and I've been trying to follow it. I might change some movies cuz I've watched or rewatched some of them this month. I'll include the calendar here in case you want to watch some of them too.

Feel free to send me recommendations of your favorite horror movies. I love to watch and discover movies I didn't know existed or watch some I wouldn't choose on my own.

See you next time~!💋

Bad Horror Movies I've Watched

So, we know I love horror movies and yeah, sometimes I complain about them not being scary anymore but, I also have these days when I feel like watching really bad horror movies. You know, those with terrible effects, bad acting and even funny in way when they are not supposed to be funny. Why? just for entertainment, haha. Some of these movies were SO bad that I actually enjoyed them, I don't know if that's weird.

So today, I'm gonna share some of them with you. This is just my personal opinion, I'm sure there are people out there who actually like these movies. What can I say? There's something for everyone.

Anyway, let's start. These are in no particular order.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey

"As a young Christopher forsakes Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet, their innocence decays. Soon, the two unleash their feral impulses, developing an insatiable hunger for blood."

I didn't know there was a Winnie The Pooh horror movie, it never crossed my mind until one of my 3rd grade students told me about it, he saw parts of it on TikTok and kinda recommended it since he knew I loved horror.

It is a movie from 2023 and it's an independent British slasher. I kinda like the idea of classic tales and characters in a darker story and I also know there are some really good independent horror movies out there but... this was not the case. At least for me.

It's bloody, of course but, it lacks lots of other things to make it a good slasher. Yeah, the idea is the typical one, girls going on holiday and getting killed by these giant fantasy characters (that really look like dudes wearing masks) but, is really predictable and acting isn't bad but is not the best either. I don't remember where I watched this movie but I'm sure it's not difficult to find online.

I watched this movie back in 2023 but decided to include it here, not only because I never talked about it but also because I found out there was second movie not long ago...

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2

"Not wanting to live in the shadows any longer, Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Owl and Tigger take their fight to the town of Ashdown, leaving a bloody trail of death and mayhem in their wake."

I'll admit this one was better than the first movie, not great, just better, it was released last year. Acting improved and Wiinie and the orhers looked a little less costume-like. It's still pretty bloody and gory and it has SO many random deaths. In this movie we actually learn more about where the evil characters come from, why they kill (kinda) and their connection with Christopher. The end leaves a door open for a 3rd movie so, we'll see.

I also found this online, I'm not sure if some streaming platforms have it.

Baby Doll

"Four foreign exchange students are forced to take shelter in an abandoned home after discovering the villa they were supposed to be staying in is no longer available. Before long, one of the students hears whispers and sees creepy things everywhere."

This is a 2021 Italian horror movie, not sure if it was independent too. There's something about dolls in horror movies that could be really good but this one didn't do it for me. Acting wasn't believable, effects were off and... I think this one was my least favorite out of this list. The idea and the story weren't new but, it could've worked. I just think it wasn't executed that well.

You can find this on Tubi.

And now, in case we didn't have enough classic tales, we have a Humpty Dumpty triology... yeah. I watchend them in the wrong order and, even tho the first one I watched was bad, I wanted to watch more after I finished that one so, I ended up watching the 3 movies. They are all available on Tubi too.

The Curse of Humpty Dumpty

"Wendy returns to her childhood home wither her daughters after she is diagnosed with dementia. While there, they come across a mysterious doll that Wendy seems to have strange, fragmented memories of. As Wendy fights to collect the missing pieces of her past, the daughters discover the dark history of this sinister and deadly doll named Humpty Dumpty."

This one is from 2021, and it's the first of the triology but, the second one I watched. And I have to say, it was the best out of the 3. The idea wasn't bad but the effects are. I don't think wounds have to be super there or super realistic all the time but in these movies in general, they didn't even try. Just super fake blood all over with no wound marks even if they are big ones, Humpty Dumpty is kinda creepy but, it loses all that when you can see the mask out of place...I don't know, it had many details that made it...bad.

The Cult of Humpty Dumpty

"A group of troubled teen girls are taken to a remote camp and soon learn they're in the clutches of a cult that worships the demonic Humpty Dumpty"

Second Humpty Dumpty movie, last one I watched. It is from 2022 and honestly, it was the worst out of the 3 movies. Worst story, worst acting, worst ending, scenes were inconsistent. It was just so silly! The only thing I wanna highlight is that they mentioned "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" at some point and, that made me happy. LOL.

The Madness of Humpty Dumpty

A young woman suffering from early onset schizophrenia, begins experiencing unnatural occurrences with a strange doll after moving back to her childhood home in the countryside.

Last Humpty Dumpty movie, first one I watched. This is the most recent, from 2023. I feel like my  opinion here is same as with the previous one, the acting was just bad, the bloody scenes super fake. Story could've been saved but, it just didn't happen. Yet, after watching this one, I was curious to watch the others so... yeah. I don't know why I do this things.

And, that'l be it for now. Would I watch these movies again? Absolutely not. But if you wanna watch something bad and not serious at all, feel free to take this as a recommendation. Plus, I've noticed Tubi seems to be the best place for bad horror. I've watched others that were kinda irrelevant there too.
I'm sure by the time I post this, I''ll already have more bad movies to add so, I might make more posts like this in the future.

See you next time~! 💋

Horror Movies I've Watched Lately

I still have some shows and movies I want to share around here so, here we are again, with another recommendations post, hehe. This time will be all about horror, my fav. I'm only including the ones I did like and enjoy but, I've also watched some that were defo not good, I don't know if you guys would be interested in those too. Let me know!

Let's start!

The Substance

"Fading actress Elisabeth Sparkle becomes distressed when her chauvinistic boss fires her from her aerobics show. She soon injects herself with a mysterious serum that promises a younger, better version of herself, but things go horribly wrong."

It took me a while to watch this movie but, it was totally worth it! I'm sure most people have already seen it but, I still wanted to include it here, just in case.
I thought it was great, gross and very true to today's beauty standards. I have to say tho, I didn't love the ending, there was something missing. But that's just me.
P.S. Demi Moore looks stunning in this movie, I mean, she's always been gorgeous but, yeah.

The Fly

"A scientist creates a teleportation machine and decides to test it. However, a fly enters the machine and their genes get spliced. Gradually, he finds himself transforming into a grotesque creature."

This was a recommendation I didn't expect to like, hehe. It's an old one (1986) but I have to say it surprised me, I ended up enjoying it a lot. It was a nice surprise to see Geena Davis there. It has a couple of gross scenes but nothing too difficult to watch.
While I was looking for this movie I saw other movie with the same title but I not sure if they are sequels, remakes or what.

The Monkey

"When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tears their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree, forcing the estranged siblings to confront the cursed toy."

The Monkey is a 2025 horror - comedy movie that I surprisingly enjoyed. I'm not a big comedy fan but this one kept me entertained. It's based on Stephen King's short story, so I'm sure many people love it. Even tho it's not a scary movie, I recommend it if you like dark comedy.

Late Night with The Devil

"In 1977, Jack Delroy, the host of a failing late-night show, decides to film a Halloween special. However, the broadcast takes a dark turn, unleashing evil into the nation's living rooms."

This one was also a recommendation that I ended up enjoying more than I thought I would, especially because of how different it is from other moves I've seen. It makes you feel as if you were really just watching an old talk show from the 70's before all the action happens. It's very well made. Then again, not scary but, worth watching.

The Grudge (Netflix)

"The movie follows events in 2004 to 2006 in a small Pennsylvanian town. Nurse Fiona Landers brings the spirit from Japan to America."

For some reason I keep finding movies that are related to The Grudge I didn't know existed. I found this Netflix one when I was looking for the Sarah Michelle Gellar one. It is from 2019 and, I wouldn't say it's the best Grudge movie because sometimes it gets weird and confusing but, it isn't the worst. Seeing John Cho there was a nice surprise.

The Others

"Grace moves into a new house with her children in Jersey. However, when inexplicable events start to take place at the residence, Grace becomes convinced that the house is haunted."

This is the only rewatch I'm including this time. I watched this movie in theaters when it came out back in 2001 and loved it. Watching it again, it did not disappoint! It is still as good as I remember. Defo one of my favorite movies.

And, that's it guys! As I'm typing this, I've already watched and re-watched many more horror movies so, I guess I'll be sharing more next month. As always, let me know if you've watched some of these and feel free to send me some recommendations!

See you next time~!💋

Fear Street Movies 🔪

I don't know how popular these movies are but I recently found them. It was thanks to their latest one, Prom Queen that I got curious and decided to watch the other 3 which are a trilogy.

The stories are based on books by R.L. Stine's: Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978 and Fear Street Part Three: 1666, they're teen slasher movies with a paranormal story and they are all connected, but they show the story from different moments in time.

The story is about teenagers who try to break the curse of their town, ShadySide that has been going for hundreds of years. These movies were released back in 2021 and apparently, many people liked them.

I can see why tho, They're fun, not too long and honestly? I watched them three days in a row because I wanted to see what would happen next. The first two were my favorites, but I also enjoyed the last one.

Effects aren't bad and even tho it's not scary, it's a little gory. The story doesn't feel slow and you get to like some of the characters. It also has some unexpected plot twists; plus, since they are based on different decades, I loved to see how the vibes changed depending on the time.

Now let's talk about Fear Street: Prom Queen, the one that introduced me to Fear Street.

This one was released in May 2025 and it's the classic teen prom slasher movie and I think it could be the first part of their next triology series. I've read mixed opinions on this one and, after watching the other 3, I kinda get why but, I have to say I enjoyed it. I liked the vibe since the story is set in the 80's and yes, it is gory too but the scenes are not that difficult to watch cuz they are not super realistic, it also has some funny situations. The story is a little predictable, we have the popular girls VS the "weird" girl competing to become Prom Queen. There's a mystery killer and that's where the action starts. I couldn't help to think about Carrie while watching it.

Was it the best movie ever? Nope, but it wasn't bad either. I would totally recommend it if you like classic slasher movies from the 80's.

Loved to see some of the promotional posters resembling the Carrie and Halloween movie posters.

All in all, I enjoyed them, they have this classic slasher films nostalgia thing going on and that is something I always like. I would recommend it for fun. I'm probably going to watch the next movies they release so, yeah.

Let me know if you've watched them or if you're planning to!
See you next time~!!💋🔪

🕷 What I've been watching lately 2024 #3 | Halloween Edition | 🕸

I love horror all year round but I know for some, October is the perfect month to watch horror movies and spooky shows so, I decided to share a list of some of the horror movies and shows I've watched in the last couple of months. I'm gonna share them even if I didn't looooove some of them, just because I think we all have different tastes. And I also want to add a couple of not so scary things because I know some people don't love scary stuff but still want to enjoy something Halloweeny.

Let's start with some movies:

🕸 Howling Village

"After her brother goes missing, a young psychologist visits an infamous haunted and cursed location known as ‘Howling Village’ to investigate his disappearance and uncover her family’s dark history."

This is a 2019 mystery and horror Japanese movie. The story is good, there were some things that just ruined the mood for me but, I wouldn't say it's a bad movie but, it isn't scary either.

🕸 La abuela

"Susana has to leave her life in Paris working as a model to return to Madrid because her grandmother Pilar has just suffered a stroke. What should have been just a few days with her grandmother will end up turning into a terrifying nightmare."

La abuela is a 2022 Spanish horror and drama movie. Honestly, this one is not scary but, it is good! At the beginning it felt a little slow for me but I never lost interest. I defo recommend it if you want this kind of thriller that keeps you wanting  to see what will happen next.

🕸 The telling

"The story revolves around three girls who pledge the most popular and cruelest sorority on campus."

Ok, I knew this was not going to be a good one but, I was a Girls Next Door fan and I always wanted to watch this movie when I was younger. I randomly remembered it and decided to watch it. It is a 2009 movie that feels as if Scream and Mean girls had a baby with some bad acting, haha. I don't know, the concept of the story is not bad, we have this sorority making 3 girls tell scary stories to see who will get the change to join them so, what we see in the movie are the 3 different stories told by the girls and a plot twist at the end of the movie. It's entertaining but, it could've been better for sure.

🕸 The possession of Hannah Grace

"A demon seeks refuge in a young girl's body when she dies due to an unruly exorcism. Later, her corpse is moved to a morgue guarded by a former officer who experiences unnatural events."

I think a possession movie can be pretty good if it's well made and this one had potential. It is a 2018 thriller that looked good at the beginning but felt veeeery slow. I think they could've explained the possession a lot better and show more from it. Idk, there were so many things missing here.

Moving on, we have 2 Netflix series~

🕸 Terror Tuesday Extreme

Terror Tuesday is a Netflix show that shares 8 different stories based on experiences shared on a Thai radio show called  "Angkhan Khlumpong."

It aired in August, 2024. Some stories are good, others, not so much. Special effects were not the best tho. What I liked about it is that every episode shares a different story so it doesn't feel boring. The idea is good tho, I liked it.

🕸 Daydreams and nightmares

"Tales of supernatural sci-fi phenomena unfold in this collection of seven mind-bending stories imagined by writer-director Joko Anwar."

Very similar to Terror Tuesday, this Indonesian SciFi, mystery show shares 7 different stories that are connected in a way (I missed the connection in some of them tho). Honestly, I liked Terror Tuesday a little more. The effects on this one make some stories funny instead of creepy but it's still entertaining.

And lastly, non-scary but still Halloweeny shows and movies

🕸 Beetlejuice

"The spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out."

After watching Beetlejuice Beetlejuice I felt like rewatching the 1988 movie. I've been a Beetlejuice fan since I was a young girl so yeah, I love this movie. I feel like most people know it so, there's not much I can say about it. I feel like it's a good dark comedy with spooky vibes, perfect for those who don't like horror but want to watch a Halloween classic.

🕸 Good Witch Movie

"Cassandra Nightingale is a stranger in the small town community of Middletown. Multiple occurrences believed as magic cause some of the town folks to think she's a witch."

I think I wrote about Good Witch before, like years ago when I was watching the show. But before the TV show, there was a movie. (Well, a couple of movies actually).

This is a 2008 Hallmark movie and, same as the show, it's super family friendly, cozy and has all the Fall vibes. Of course I like the show a lot more but it eas nice to see some of the characters I met on the show there and see how this story originally started.

🕸 Are you afraid of the Dark?

"Young members of the Midnight Society meet weekly and narrate horror tales. However, their world turns upside down when some of the ghostly stories start occurring in real life."

As a 90's kid, I grew up watching this show on Nickelodeon even a little more often than Goosebumps. After watching Beetlejuice I had a bit of childhood nostalgia and started randomly watching some of the episodes. I have to admit I still enjoy them a lot. Even tho I think some episodes could be scary only for children, it is something you can enjoy if you want a little spookiness this season.

And, there you go. Something with a spooky halloweeny touch to watch now that we're getting super close to Halloween. I'm sure I'm missing other movies I've watched but, oh well.

Hope you enjoy them! Let me know if you have seen some of these and, feel free to give me some recommendations too!!

Hitori Kakurenbo | One man hide and seek |

It's horror story time!

Or is it a game? Urban Legend?... I'm not sure but it is definitely one of my favorite ones and I thought sharing it would be a fun way to say goodbye to my beloved October.
This little game is called "Hitori Kakurenbo" and it's a pretty interesting invocation game.

To be honest, I was tempted o try it once but I never did it. I don't think spirits are something to play with. If you dare to try it, let me know how it goes... bwahaha.

Players: 1

What you need:
A stuffed doll with limbs
A sack of uncooked rice
A pair of nail clippers
A needle
Red thread
Knife or pair of scissors
A bathtub or something similar
1 cup of salt water
A hiding place
Incense

Let's start!
Using the knife or scissors, open the doll and remove the stuffing.
Replace the stuffing with the uncooked rice. Clip off a piece of your fingernail and place it inside the doll with the rice.
Using the needle and red thread, stitch the doll to close the opening. Without snipping the thread, take the remaining length, wrap it around the doll, and tie off the ends.
Fill the bathtub with water.
Purify the room in which your hiding place is located with the incense. Once purified, set up the television in the same room. Place the cup of salt water and the sharp edge inside the hiding place.
Name the doll.

Start at 3am. Repeat the following phrase to the doll three times, filling in your own name where appropriate: “[Your Name] is the first it.”
Go to the bathroom. Submerge the doll in the bathtub and leave it there.
Turn out all the lights in your house.
Go to your hiding place and switch on the television. Close your eyes and count to ten.
When you have finished counting, open your eyes, retrieve your sharp edge, and return to the bathroom.
Remove the doll from the bathtub and say the following phrase to it, filling in the doll’s name where appropriate: “I have found you, [Doll’s Name].” Use your sharp edge to cut the red thread binding the doll.
Say the following phrase to the doll, filling in the doll’s name where appropriate: “You are the next it, [Doll’s Name].” Then return the doll to the bathtub.
Quickly return to your hiding place. Remain as silent as possible.

Take a large mouthful of salt water. Do not swallow it; hold it in your mouth. Keep the cup containing the rest of the salt water in your hand.
Emerge from your hiding place and begin to for the doll. NOTE: The doll may not necessarily be in the bathroom where you left it.
When you find the doll, pour the remaining salt water in the cup over it. Spit the salt water in your mouth over the doll as well.
Repeat the following phrase to the doll three times: “I win.”

Once the game is completed, burn it and get rid of the remains.

NOTES:
The rice represents the doll’s internal organs. And, it helps to attract spirits.

The red thread represents a blood vessel and seals whatever spirits you might have attracted inside the doll.

When naming your doll, DON'T give it your own name. It is also advisable to avoid giving it the name of anyone you know.

Burning the doll will allow the spirit to leave the doll and return to its place.

Once the game has begun, DON'T do any of the following things until it has been completed:

Turn on the lights.
Lock any doors, including the front or back doors
Make unnecessary noise.
Leave your house.
Don't, leave your hiding place without the salt water.
Don't allow the game to go on for longer than two hours.
Once you start, the game must be played through to completion. Don't try to abandon it halfway through.

And that's it for this game! there's also a movie and lots of creepypastas/gameplays online.
I also think there's an animated movie I havent seen but, I plan to.
