Life in my 30's...

When I was younger I said I'd be happily married, with a family and a house at 25. Then, when I turned 30 I said I would have a baby by 35, married or not. And now I'm 35 and my only child is a cat! I can barely handle myself sometimes so, I don't think a baby would be the best idea right now~

It's true when people say, life never goes as planned...

It is so weird for me to openly say it. Part of me is still in denial but yeah, I just turned 35 and surprisingly, I'm not having a break down as I did in previous years. Honestly, I don't feel 35, and I probably don't do everything people would expect me to at this age but, you know what? I do believe age is just a number and you should do whatever makes you happy.

I enjoyed my early 20's, I wasn't too worried about life. I fell in love and I really enjoyed celebrating and doing everything for everyone! But I feel like I didn't do many things people would do in their 20's. I was kinda living in a bubble and didn't experience many things. It was different during my mid and late 20's tho, when that bubble popped. Reality hit hard, I was heartbroken and I had a very hard time dealing with changes and my own emotions. I felt as if I was in a very dark place at some point and I couldn't recognize myself. I felt lonely and it was a scary feeling. I was desperately looking for someone to safe me and bring me back to my happy self. Little did I know, I was the only one who could actually do that.

When I turned 30, I almost had a panic attack! (not really, but I want to be dramatic). I was just not ready and I knew I hadn't achieved any of the things I had on my "to-do list". Add to that the obligatory questions from other people Where's the boyfriend? Why aren't you dating? When are you getting married? I couldn't help to feel that pressure, not only from others but also from myself. Some of my cousins were married and were starting a family, others had a long and happy relationships and, I wanted that. I just didn't know how to get it.

My dating choices were not the best ones, and I don't even date a lot to begin with (not that it has changed). I dated guys I didn't even like, just to be more "open" and hopefully meet someone I'd eventually fall in love with. That just didn't happen. So I guess I gave up on it. Hehe. Don't get me wrong, I still want to find a partner, get married and have my own family. It just doesn't feel like a priority atm. If it comes, I'll receive it tho.

During this time I also got the chance to travel to Europe, which was a great way to disconnect from the routine, quit my toxic, not-well-paid teaching job I had for 7 years and try to leave everything I was feeling behind. Plus, it was my first big trip in a long, long time. I kinda saw it as a way to let go of everything and have a fresh start. Just like in the movies. Hehehe.

I wouldn't say my biggest growth durning this time was emotionally, it was more professionally. When I came back I started looking for better working opportunities and money income, as well as ending toxic friendships that were not giving me anything positive. Kinda trying to take my life more seriously.

I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter how much you try to be good at things or do your best, not everyone is going to like you or the things you do. We can't please everyone, it's just exhausting.

In a way, I spent a big part of my early 30's focused on my work, back then it felt like an escape. But I think it was around that time when I met and started spending more time with the people I get to call my best friends now. I can truly say they were an important part of my process of feeling better and slowly go back to myself again. I know I say this often but, I really do consider myself very lucky to have the group of friends I have. It took me a while to find the right people and let go of others but, my 30's taught me that friendship is not always based on how long you've known someone. And that is important to find people you feel comfortable with, no matter what. People you can share silly things with, but also serious stuff. I admire my friends, I'm constantly learning from them and one of the most important things they've taught me is that is perfectly fine to be myself and like the things I like even on my 30's. To me, a chat with my friends is the best therapy, and even tho friendship has always been important to me, I never thought my friends would become an extended family and I'm so happy to share and grow with them.

I'm not gonna lie tho, as I grow older, I'm starting to worry a lot more about my skin and those fine lines! I guess I have a slight fear of aging~ So I try to take care of my skin a lot more than a few years ago. You know what they say, light skin ages faster... Ah! And let's not forget about those always annoying grey hairs. They drive me crazy. I keep pulling them as soon as I see them. I also noticed that now, it's easier to gain weight than losing it, not that I'm complaining. I actually needed to gain a few pounds to feel and, in my opinion, look better.

One of the biggest change I've had during my 30's has been moving out of my family home to live in my own place. It was something I wanted (and needed) to do for a long time but for whatever reason I kept postponing. Funny thing is, it happened less than a year ago. It pushed me to adult for real! I'm not going to say everything has been easy but, it's been fun. It has helped me find who I am, what I want (kinda) and proved myself that I can be useful, independent and stronger than I thought.

I think being 30 is a weird stage. I don't feel like a grown woman but I'm no longer in my 20's even if I feel like that. I thought I would have life all figured out by now but, I'm still clueless about many things and I'm constantly learning! It's as if I was discovering who I really am, what I'm good at and finally believing I'm good at it. I'm letting go of things I should've years ago and slooooowly opening myself to new opportunities and experiences. It's been a roller coaster so far, with lots of changes, I am busier than ever juggling 2 jobs and even studying!! I never planned my life to be like this. Sometimes I feel like the day doesn't have enough hours to do everything that I have to do, I'm always running and beer became my lover after a long, tiring day (that's something that my kidney doesn't appreciate tho) LOL; but somehow, I make it work. At the same time, I'm starting to live and experience a kind of freedom I didn't feel before, making my own decisions and trying to put myself first, It's liberating and it feels good.

I might not be your regular 30 year old and I'm far from being where I'd like to be in life but, I'm happy with what life brings again and I'm enjoying things the way I did back in my 20's. Maybe even more, hehe. Guess 30's aren't as bad as I thought. Specially when you have people to share your non conventional for a 30 year old hobbies, hahaha.

I don't know what the rest of my 30's will be like but I can't wait to see!

OMG I think I'm gonna end this post here because I feel like I'll start rambling soon. At this point, I don't know if what I wrote still goes with the title anymore and it's already too long. Thank you if you decided to read till the end, hehe. ♡

See you next time~ ♡

Me from A to Z

Hi guys!
Here comes a "get to know me" kind of post. I saw this Me from A to Z thing while I was looking for some BuJo inspo and thought it'd be fun to share here.
I did something similar last year in a Things I'm thankful for ABC. I'll try to find things most people don't know about me or things I haven't mentioned in previous questionnaires or tags.
Let's do this!

A is for Autumn which has to be my favorite season of the year. Not only because of Halloween and its vibe but also because of its weather, colors and fashion.

B is for Beer. I'll always choose a nice and cold beer over wine. I especially like dark beer.

C is for Coffee. I know, no surprise here! I'm a coffee addict and I just can't function properly without my morning coffee.

D is for Dentist. I have a strong fear for dentists. They make me so nervous, and my last experience with them wasn't pleasant at all.

E is for Explosive. That's because I can have a very explosive temperament at times.

F is French. A language I studied for 6 years with no success. My French is pretty basic for someone who took classes for that long.

G is for Grease. One of my all time favorite movies.

H is for Halloween. I'm sure most of you saw this one coming. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I like it more than Christmas!

is for Inpatient. Even tho it's been getting better thanks to my job, I've always been a very inpatient person.

is for Jokes. I suck at telling jokes and... I'm too slow when it comes to understanding them. Also because, I laugh at the most silly and simple ones.

K is for Kind. I always try to be kind to others and I appreciate kindness in people.

L is for Lazy. I have an active life and as much as I enjoy it, I will always accept and take a chance to be lazy. There's something satisfying about doing absolutely nothing every once in a while.

M is for Murder cases. Not everyone knows this but I really enjoy to watch them. I find them really interesting. From the investigation, how they did it and the reasons behind it. Favorite thing to watch before going to sleep.

N is for Naive. Because yeah, I can be too naive sometimes...

O is for Obsessed. I tend to obsess over things quickly

P is for Posessive. This is not as strong as it was before but there's a part of me who stll thinks "Hey, what's mine, is mine. Period!"

Q is for Quote. "Hold the vision, Trust the process" this is a quote I try to live by.

R is for Rabbit. My lunar year is the year of the rabbit, which is funny because I also happen to collect them.

S is for Silly. I can be veeeery silly once you get to really know me and, I'm not ashamed of it. LOL.

T is for Teacher. Which has been one of the most fullfilling and rewarding things in my life.

U is for Unbreakable. One of my fav songs from Kim Hyun Joong (couldn't think of something better hehe)

V is for Valencia a place a fell in love with and hope to visit again someday.

W is for Witch. Because I'm obsessed with witches, magic and I'd become one if I could.

X is for eXpressive. (I didn't want to go for the typical "x-ray") I have a very expressive face which makes it hard for me to hide my true thoughts and feelings about things.

Y is for Yelling. I feel like, I'm an expert at it when I'm really mad. Oops!

is for Zombies. Years ago I wanted to have a zombie themed wedding reception. No joke.

This was a bit harder than I thought but I hope you enjoyed it and got to learn something else (probably random) about me. Feel free to do this too! it's always a fun way to get to know people!

Get to know me | 25 things I love about me |

Hi there!
Here comes another "Get to know me" post~ Sometimes I feel it's easier for us to talk about our flaws and the things we don't like about ourselves, I'm guilty of that! I wanted to change that a little bit and sit down to think positive things in me, things I like about me. It wasn't an easy task tho~
Dunno why I've been making these posts into lists but, here are 25 things I like about me:

1. I am a very loyal person. It is hard for me to let people in my life but, once I do, I am very loyal to those I love. I'm like a puppy who won't leave their side and support them no matter what.

2. I never deny who I am. I am the way I am and I like what I like. Maybe people can think I'm too childish, too silly or even weird but, that's the way I am and I'm happy to be this way.

3. I am a good friend.

4. My obsession with halloween and everything horror related.

5. How loud I am. Especially when I'm with my friends. My voice can be loud as well as my laugh. I'm sure some people could find it annoying tho

6. My job and how and how my students see me as a role model. Teaching has to be one of the most rewarding things in my life, I enjoy every second of it. But I'm also aware of the responsibility it comes with.

7. I get along with children. I guess because I'm so used to work with kids, I've learned to get along with them. Talk about their interests and what they like. It's funny to think how I disliked kids many years ago~

8. I like to learn from others.

9. How people always say I look younger.

10. I'm a good listener.

11. How movies and shows can make me cry easily. I'm an emotional person!

12. I never stop dreaming. And I'm working to make those dreams become true.

13. How girly I am.

14. I am a family person. In a way I know my family will always come first.

15. I'm stubborn. I'm not sure if that's actually a quality but, I don't give up easily.

16. I'm not afraid to make fun of myself. I'm a silly person and I can't change that.

17. How childish I still am. I still have a girl's heart, and yeah, I feel like I still hold on to that a lot but, I feel that way adulting doesn't seem to be so boring.

18. How much I enjoy to sing even if I'm not good at it.

19. How naive I can be sometimes.

20. I never thought of myself as a creative person but, I try.

21. I appreciate good grammar even tho I don't think I'm perfect at it.

22. I believe in goblins.

23. How I can sometimes fit in kid's clothes and shoes. Yup, I'm that small.

24. How some people think I'm all put together when I'm actually a lazy mess.

25. I'm becoming a lot more independent with time.

This is not supposed to be a tag kind of thing but I'd love to invite my fellow bloggers (or anyone who feels like it) to share some things they love about them. It feels nice to admit we all have great things and witing them down makes them feel more...real?

Get to know me |15 things I've learned about life... so far!|

Hello loves!
For the past few years, I feel like I've been learning a lot from evey single experience I've had, good or bad. Some were learnt the hard way but they helped me to grow a lot as a person. I feel like I'm finally myself again and since I'm celebrating another birthday today, I wanted to share some of those things that make me feel...well, a little wiser.
I'm only sharing 15 cuz I feel like this is going to be one long post to read...

1. It is better to have a few good and true friends than many fake ones. I was never the kind of person who had way too many friends but, some of those "friends" were actually very fake people. The kind of people who would talk behind your back, people who would tell you what you wanna hear just to be accepted. Then I just decided to let that people go, I don't need that kind of negativity in my life and there was no reason for me to feel tied to them. Now, even tho I can count my friends on one hand (or two!), I know they are real friends who will tell me if I'm wrong, who will encourage me to do great things and always be better. And also, people I admire and who always inspire me.

2. There is no need to rush, things will happen when they are meant to happen. I'm the kind of person who would worry so much about things not happening when I wanted them to happen or when I thought they were supposed to happen. Like yeah, there are so many things I wish I had at this point in my life but, I've learned that you just gotta let things flow and work for what you want and they will happen. The more you want to force them, the less they will happen. There's nothing bad with daydreaming a little too tho~

3. Being alone doesn't mean you're lonely. I'm not sure how to explain this but it took me a while to understand that it's ok to be alone every now and then and it doesn't mean you're lonely. Dealing with the idea of being on my own wasn't exactly my favorite but with time I became a lot more independent. I love to have people I love around me but in the end, I know I can't depend on them 100%.

4. It's ok to be sad. There was a time in my life when I was always happy, no matter what happened, I always smiled and pretended everything was just fine but, once I couldn't do that anymore, I exploded and had what I like to call an emotional breakdown. I was feeling so sad and down all the time, I didn't find the things I love exciting anymore and I felt people around me expected me to just move on and be the same, old happy Mon they knew. It was a scary feeling. It took me forever to feel myself again but I also learned that, you don't need to have a miserable life to feel sad, and it's only human to cry, feel blue and let it all out. You can take your time to understand and deal with those emotions but, you can't be stuck there forever. Only you can choose to feel better.

5. Hold the vision, trust the process. A friend told me this years ago, and I have to say it's my favorite. I do believe that if you want something with all your heart (as cheesy as it sounds) and you never lose that idea, that vision, it will come true eventually. Of course you gotta work for it and make an effort. It doesn't matter if it takes many detours, it will come to you. ♡

6. Letting go is one of the hardest things to do but it does set you free. And I'm talking about letting go of many things here: certain feelings, things, people, a job that oesn't make you happy, etc... I'm a very apprehensive person but last year I decided to start letting go. It is a long process and it's scary most of the time but, it'll make you feel better eventually. I'm still working on it tho, but I think I'm improving.

7. Believe in yourself. This is still in process but, I'm getting there. Even if it's about the small things, I want to believe I can. I can do whatever I decide to do and, I deserve great things.

8. Dream big but, make it happen. It's easy to dream and want things but the important and exciting part is, what are you going to do to make it happen? You gotta work hard to get what you dream. It's great to get some help in the way but it won't always be like that so, work for it yourself!

9. Things do happen for a reason. Even if I don't like the way some things are, I do believe they happen to make us stronger and learn from it. Sometimes we have to reach bottom to realize we need a change.

10. It's ok to think of yourself first. I can't say I don't have a conflict here anymore cuz I do, especially when it comes to my family. I always think about them first, what they want or need. But even tho they will always be my #1 I know I have to think of me too, my needs and plans.

11. It's not your job to make everyone happy. For some reason, I spent a big part of my life trying to solve everyone's problems, finding ways to fix things that were not even supposed to be part of my problems. Giving people what they needed to achieve certain things and even sacrificed part of what I wanted to do for others. I kinda assumed that "job". With time I realized I can't please everyone, I can't fix people's lives and dreams because...it's exhausting! Of course I'll help as much as I can but I won't take every single problem or situation as if it was mine.

12. Only YOU can change your life. I was always used to depend on others, always wanted help and wanted to feel protected from my own problems until I had to face them alone. That's when I realize I can't depend on people to change my life, only my choices and actions will help me to get to a better place. I know I have awesome people around me to support me or guide me but, in the end is up to me how to use that help or follow advices.

13. Do what you love, who cares what others think? Some people will always say "you're too young/to old" to do a certain thing, act in a certain way or like certain things. I admit it, I'm way too childish and some people may think it is wrong but, who cares? It is my life and as long as I'm taking care of my "adult things" in a responsible way, I can be or like whatever I want.
There's no book that says you should get married at a certain age, have children, stop dressing up, blah blah blah~ I'll do whatever makes me happy.

14. It's ok to say NO when you feel like it. I still find it hard to say "no", especially when it comes to work related stuff. But I think I'm getting better at it on the personal field(?). I don't hang around people I don't want in my life, I don't go somewhere if I don't feel like it and I don't do things if I just don't want to. I know I'm not the first or last one to do it and, as long as I'm not hurting anyone, it's ok.

15. Do everything with love.

I'll stop here, hehe. These are only a few things I've learned so far. If you made it to the end, big yay! And thanks. I know there's still a lot for me to learn on this journey called life.

10 Things That Make Me Happy 😊

Hi there!
Not long ago I was talking with my friend Airi about the enjoying the little things, trying to find good in everyday and all that and, I remember seeing somewhere (don't remember where) this thingy where you share 10 things that make you happy and I thought it'd be a good idea to do it too. Because then again, is a good way to know a little more about the other and because it is a reminder of the good things we have.
You know, there is always a little dose of happiness in everyday~

So, here are mine:
1. Friends & Family.
I'm the kind of person who really appreciates the people around me. Even if I don't get to see everyone all the time. I love to be surrounded by the people I love. I've said it before but, I do believe I have awesome people around me, and I'm very thankful for that.

2. Animals (my furry babies)
I LOVE animals. I actually wanted to become a vet when I was younger. Spending time with animals, even if they are not mine; is something I really enjoy.

3. My preschoolers.
Working with kids has taught me SO much. Yes, it can be tiring but they really show you true love, they are always willing to learn and find even the most simple things, amazing. Sometimes I think we should try to see the world the way they do it. I never stop learning when I'm with them.

4. Helping others/Giving.
I think this is something my parents taught me since I was little and I just continued because I enjoy doing it. The simple act of making someone smile with my actions gives me one of the most rewarding feelings. I believe everything counts, giving something when someone is in need when you can, helping someone in need, a kind word...even a smile. I don't know, there are many ways to help and I do it everytime I can.

5. Coffee!
Just the thought of having coffee first thing in the morning makes me so happy. I am a coffee lover, just like my mom so you can say every coffee break is a happy break during my day.

6. Food, desserts and snacks!
Yup, food can always make me happy. Especially when it's free! Lol. And well, I can't say no to a super fat, yummy dessert. #FoodIsLove.

7. Shopping.
Especially when it comes to makeup & beauty products...

8. A clean carpet.
I know, that is weird but there is something really satisfying about having a clean, vacuumed carpet. At least...I like it.

9. Traveling.
I love to discover new places and even do I don't travel that often, I enjoy even a day out of town. It is a complete different feeling, different people, food, etc.

10. Blogging/Vlogging.
Yeah! Last but not least is this blog and my YT channel. Because is my very own space to share whatever I want with you guys. A bit of my life, my likes and dislikes, my feelings and...all that! I also love to read back from you guys.  You are my online friends & fam ♥

And there you have them, some of the things that make me happy. I think sometimes we don't think much about them but, it's funny how even the most simple things can give us some happiness.
Let's make this a Happiness tag! Feel free to share something that makes you happy. I'm algo tagging my friends Tomi, Airi and Keisha. #BlogSquad lol. ♥
