The Pet Tag: Sassy 🐾

Yesterday was National Cat Day so, I think this post is perfect! (It would've been better yeasterday but, still).

Years ago, I shared a Pet tag / furry friend tag (can't remember the exact name) about Tinks, Michee and Masha. As you know, last year another furry baby joined my family and I thought it was time for her to have her own tag. Even tho I haven't had her for that long, I lover her so much so, yeah. Here is Sassy's pet tag!

Let's start!

1. What is your pets name?

Sassy

2. How did you come up with the name?

I didn't. Her previous owner named her Sassy and since she's not a baby anymore, I didn't want to change it. She's already very used to it.

3. What breed is your pet?

I believe she's a Ragdoll. Not sure tho. (I'm not too familiar with cat breeds)

4. How long have you had your pet friend?

For almost a year now.

5. How did you get your pet?

Last year I started cat sitting her. It was going to be for a couple of months but, in the end, she ended up staying for good. There are a couple of blog posts dedicated to the whole cat sitting process and why I adopted her. I don't regret it tho, she is the sweetest.

6. What is your pets favorite thing to eat?

Dry cat food and treats. I can't get her to eat other things!! She tried tuna once tho.

7. What games does your pet love to play?

She's very playful in general. She loves to play fetch, she could do it for hours!

8. Is your pet a cuddle and chill kind of pet or a let go explore sort of pet?

I'd say a bit of both. She's a hunter for sure and she's very curious but, she also has a chill and cuddly side. Especially now with the cold weather, she likes to cuddle under the blankets with me.

9. What is your favorite memory with your pet?

I guess seeing how she started trusting me and becoming a confident cat around the house is a good memory.

10. What are some quirky things about your pets personality?

Idk if this could be considered quirky but, she likes to drink water using her paw. It makes her look very lady like.

11. What does your relationship with your pet mean to you?

Well, they (Masha and Sassy) are my babies! So, they're very special and mean the world to me. We're connected! Hehe.

12. What are some of your favorite things to do with your pet?

I love to play with her but we also enjoy lazy and cozy afternoons where we can enjoy a movie or a show together.

13. What nicknames do you call your pet?

Sass or Tatty

14. What tricks can your pet do?

I don't think there's an actual trick she does and I don't really teach my pets to do tricks but, she does many cute things and poses.

15. What is the funniest thing your pet has done?

I'd say some of her sleeping poses are the funniest.

16. What is the boldest thing your pet has done?

It has to be how well she adapted to her new life. I know it was a big change for her, epseically having Masha around. I think she did very well! She's a brave girl.

17. What impresses you the most about your pet?

How she started defending herself from Masha. Masha is a spoiled bully (I'm not proud) but Sassy is not letting her bully her anymore. I'm so proud!

18. Is your pet house trained or an outside pet?

She's an indoor cat.

19. Where is your favorite place to bring your pet?

I don't really bring them anywhere. I wish I could tho. Car rides are just no fun for them.

20. What is the most rewarding thing about being a pet owner?

The unconditional love pets give you. Plus, there's never a lack of laughter.

And there you have it guys, a short questionnaire to get to know my classy baby a little more. Feel free to share facts about your furry babies too! I'd love to read!

😸 Cat sitting update!

When I shared my last cat sitting post, I was planning to make a quick update when Sassy left just to close the "series" so, here we are.

The update will be slightly different than planned because, Sassy is officially part of my family!

As I mentioned in the first post, Sassy's mom went to Europe for six months but, a lot happened in those 6 months and those changes would represent another big one for Sassy. So, in the end, we decided that it was best for her to stay here. I mean, the idea of saying goodbye kinda made me sad, we're happy to have her here and I think we all got used to each other, including Masha. Even tho they still fight at times, I knew she'd be lonely without Sassy. Plus, I saw how she struggled to adapt to a new place so, we didn't have the heart to put her throught it all over again.

I know it was hard for her mom to make this decision but I'm happy she trusted me to take care of her baby.

I believe that when a cat (or any other pet) comes into your life, it's for a reason, and you should welcome it with love so yeah, she will be loved and spoiled in her new home. ♡

I think that is it, I just wanted to share the news, hehe. In case you missed how our story with Sassy started, here are all the links to the previous Cat sitting posts.

It's quick cat update time! Hehe.

After spending a lot more time home during my "break" I noticed Sassy is a lot more used to the routine and how things are over here. Every morning they both wait for me, sitting in the kitchen for their breakfast. Specially during the weekend, and they actually eat at the same time most mornings, which didn't used to happen before.

I keep the cat treats in a container and everytime I give them to Masha, I say "Who wants a treat?" and shake it a little, Masha just knows and comes running. It's cute because Sassy does it now too, she knows it means "treat time."

And well, they have their own night routine where they play (alone or together) at night and after a while, they both come to bed. Usually one a few minutes after the other. We all sleep together every night now.

And it's not only at night, while I was on my break, I spent a lot of time watching shows and they both were in the same room with me most of the time. It was nice because, a few months back Sassy would nap in a separate room because they didn't like to be in the same room.

Now that I'm back to work, I don't feel too worried about leaving them alone. It's cute cuz they both are waiting for me when I come back home.

😋

I think that's it for this month guys, Sassy is the sweetests so, it's been really nice to have her over.
Here are the other cat sitting posts in case you haven't read them.

Time for another cat update! I've been home a lot more lately so I can see how the girls are doing and how they act around the other.

Last time I mentioned how Sassy started sleeping with me in my bed when Masha was not around but, as soon as my break started, I woke up to both of them sleeping on my bed, really close to the other! It was a big surprise! They don't cuddle together as other cats do but, I think it is a BIG improvement. Most of the time Masha sleeps on my feet and Sassy next to me.

Also almost every night, Sassy likes to lie down on me for a while before she moves next to her new sleeping spot. I find it really cute!

And, as usual, I bought a new toy I found at Miniso. I was very excited cuz most of the cool toys they have are for dogs so, I just had to get it. I was so glad to see that they both liked it and use it. Even if they don't do it together. I tried but, it didn't work.

It was very easy to assemble

All in all, I'm happy to see how Sassy's confidence keeps growing, she moves comfortably around the apartment and both of them live in peace most of the time.

Here are the previous ones in case you missed them.

Here comes another cat update. I think it'll be a very short one since things haven't changed much since the last one.

Sassy is braver now and I've seen her provoking Masha every now and then. I find it funny tho, they end up chasing each other around the apartment.

At night, when Masha sleeps in a different room, Sassy jumps in my bed and sleeps with me for a while, something she didn't do before.

And, again, they got matching toys. This time, small mice. It was love at first sight. They started playing with them as soon as they recieved them.

Shortest update so far but, I'll be on a break soon so, I'll be able to spend more time with them and, hopefully, write more.

Welcome to another cat sitting update. 3 months have passed since Sassy arrived and, I think we finally did it guys! They finally live in peace, haha.

Masha stills annoys Sassy at times but I think it is just part of her personality cuz, same happened with Michee when they lived together.

It's nice to finally see Sassy taking naps, playing and relaxing in different parts of the house without worrying about Masha being around. She even enjoys long naps on my bed, something she didn't do before. She also likes to spend time on my kitchen rug when we are in the kitchen.

I got them matching fish toys

Honestly, I felt really bad thinking that Sassy would spend her time here stressed by Masha if things never got better. Guess I just had to be more patient.

Something I've noticed tho, is that Masha gets jealous everytime she sees me petting or playing with Sassy and she gets mad at me, haha.

But I do feel everything is more calm now and I feel relieved. We're half way through and I really hope they'll become friends before Sassy goes back home.

This is a very short update but, here are my previous ones in case you wanna check them out:

Time to have a little update on Masha, Sassy and their relationship. I think I can slowly see some improvement.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I started using aromatherapy for pets to help them relax not only around each other, but also because I had people working in the apartment and I know Masha always feels stressed when someone she doesn't know is around. And even tho Masha is still nervous, I think they are more relaxed around each other now. Plus, they stayed in the same room while the worker was here.

Sassy looks much more comfortable moving around the house and she even slaps Masha when needed. Is good that she's showing her she won't allow her to bully her.

I had 2 weeks off for Spring break so I had more time to be here and check on them, I no longer kept them in separate rooms and, I even saw them chasing each other (in a playful way) without any growling or hissing. Big yay!

It's funny because even tho I try to keep their food bowls and little boxes separated, the use them both without caring if it's their own. I hope it is not a bad thing~ Masha and Michee used to do that too.

Like I said before, Sassy is a very sweet girl, it's hard not to love her. She likes to nap in the closet, loves Masha's favorite lizard toys too and also had a video call with her mom this month.

This is a short update but I'm really glad with how things are slowly developing between them. I'll see you next month with another Cat sitting update.

Aromatherapy for pets 🐾

As some of you already know, we have a little furry roommate staying with us for a couple of months, Sassy. But her relationship with Masha hasn't been exactly easy. Add to that, I've had people over working on the apartment so, life has been stressful for the girls.

Searching online I found that using aromatherapy can help to relax cats (dogs too) and that can also improve their relationship cuz they won't be as stressed around each other. I knew I had to try!

Out of all the products and online stores, I found "El Rebozo de Dolce", which is a mexican store focused on cats and dogs. The stuff they have is cute but, what I liked the most is the way they answered to my questions about their product. It was very caring and nice. That's they main reason why I chose their product. Plus, their logo and main model is a cute chihuahua, Dolce, that reminds me of Tinkie a little. The whole concept is adorable!!

What I got is a lavender oil from their line Yokoxkayotl, that according to their info, means relaxation in Nahuatl.

It is made with natural ingredients such as: lavender essential oil, neroli essential oil, and orange essential oil.

You can apply some of the product on their hear, back and even ears, giving them a little massage.

I do have to mention the presentation tho, cuz it is super cute! The product came in a fabric pouch with their logo embroidered in pink.

Inside, there was a cardboard bag with the product.

They included the spray applicator too. Idk, I just love these little details. It makes a brand special.

I started using this product earlier this month on both, Sassy and Masha. Masha won't let me apply it on her so, I like to spray some on her blankie and the places where she likes to nap. I did apply it on Sassy's back tho. I think it's also a nice way to pamper the babies.

Sassy seems to be more relaxed than Masha when the workers are over, but relationship wise, I think it has improved the way they interact a little. They are not as grumpy and nervous around each other.

The smell of the oil is actually pretty nice and soft, I like it! Cuz I read that other products were to strong and they kinda scared the pets away. This is defo not the case.

El Rebozo de Dolce also has clothes and accessories for the furbabies.

Meet Sassy. She's been staying with us for almost a month now and, she'll be Masha's roomie for a couple more months.

Sassy's mom made a trip to Europe and I thought it would be a good idea to bring her home so Masha could have someone to play with.

Sassy is 2 years old, she's very sweet, playful but also a little shy. She's super cute! In a month, she got used to being around me. She lets me pet her and even hold her.

In my mind, Masha felt lonely because she was used to be with Michee before we moved. She was used to be around other cats since she was a baby so I thought they would get along right away. Boy, was I wrong~ Guess she got used to be an only child way to fast. And Sassy was an only child too so, it's been a slow process for both of them.

We didn't have much time to sowly introduce them. They met once but didn't directly see each other (it was more like just sniffing each other) and the second time we shared some dirty litter so they could well... smell it too.

But even tho Sassy is a very quiet girl, she was super nervous and scared when she first arrived. She spent her first day hiding behing my washing machine and I felt so bad for her. The next day, I moved her to a room where she could have all her things and feel comfortable without having to be exposed to us when she didn't want to. Of course, I was always checking on her and Masha seemed to be very curious as soon as she noticed her.

I spend a lot of time out of the house because of work, so I always kept them separated when I was away and slowly started opening Sassy's room so they could see each other when I was around. When I started doing that, Masha spent a lot of time in Sassy's room but they never really played or interacted in any way, they just stared and hissed at each other every now and then. They also have small fights with growlings. 😓 That's why I try to give them alone time too, so they both can move around the apartment, eat and play without worrying about the other. It'd be nice if they could do everything together tho.

I wouldn't say they hate each other but, they are nor exactly friends... yet!

I can tell Sassy has made an effort to adapt to her new temporary home and I really want her to feel safe and comfortable.

I've read and heard it is a process that could take weeks or even months, maybe I'm not patient enough, hehe. I'm trying all the tips I see online and I'm open to listen (or read) if you have any, to make this process a better one.

I think I'll be writing a monthly update to share their progress and see how their relationship improves with time.

Cat pressies haul 🐾

A few days ago was International Cat Day, so of course, Masha recieved some pressies. My mom says Masha is a spoiled brat, and she might be right. After I moved, Masha became an only child and since I'm out working for many hours and she's very needy, I try to spoil her to keep her happy and entertained. Yeah, I'm that type of mom.

Let's take a look at Masha's new goodies.

This first toy isn't exactly new, she's had it for about a month now but I thought I'd include it here.

Flopping fish:
I remember when I first saw the ad online, it said it was a "trending toy" for cats and I knew Masha had to have it.
This electronic fish is very realistic looking and it responds to movement so, when your cat touches it, it starts dancing.
It came with a charger and a little catnip sachet inside. You can remove the elctronic part to wash it and the battery lasts for a couple of days even when you constantly leave it on.

I find it funny and Masha likes it. It catches her attention and keeps her busy for a while.

The next two items are from the same store, Un dos treats.Which is a mexican store dedicated to make pet treats with very unique and interesting flavors. Everything is made with natural ingredients.

First we have the fish and cucumber ¡Cha-Cha Shakers! Which is a seasoning for dogs and cats. It's as thin as spices and the smell of this particular one is similar to dry shrimp. You just mixed it with their food and they can enjoy. Masha loved it and Michee and Dako (my sister's dog) also recieved one. They also had another flavor that I might get later. Of course, I don't give it to her everyday.

I also got her some Catgrass, for some reason I thought it'd be ready but the set came with the soil, seeds and "pot". The pot is pretty much the can it came in but it's still cute. I already prepared it so, I hope it survives. I'm not really good with plants. But grass should be easy, right?
We'll see how it goes.

This is how the cat grass looks after a week

Lastly we have the SmartyKat Crackle Chute Collapsible Cat Tunnel which Masha hasn't used yet, she's still kinda scared of it. She shyly gets close and sniffs it but, she doesn't completely gets in. Hope she starts liking it soon.

And that is it for this cat haul, I think it's the first time I do something like this so I hope you enjoyed.
If you want to see more from Masha, feel free to follow her on Instagram! Michee also has an account.

Farewell Tinks~

I wasn't sure if I was going to share this or not because I still get teary eyes when I talk about it.

Sadly, on September 11th we had to say goodbye to my sweet TinkerBell. She got really sick, apparently from a heart decease. Everything happened way too fast and we were just not ready to let her go. Even tho our heart was broken, it was selfish to keep her around even if we knew she was suffering.

I will never forget her unconditional love and all the happy years we spent together. Tinks was a 12 year old chihuahua mix, she was an old dog but she was still very active and cheerful. She loved to eat her peanut dog treats, had a good relationship with Michee and was the most patient dog with Masha. She was really sweet.

I still miss her a lot but she will always live in my heart. I'm sure she's a cute furry angel now, that won't leave our side.

Thank you guys for the love and support through your messages during this hard moment. I really, really appreciate it.

Love you forever, Tinks baby. Thank you for all the beautiful years together. Until we meet again. ♡
