Mini Wedding Chit Chat + Green & Gold Nails ๐Ÿ’š

On August 24th, two of my closest friends got married and I couldn't be happier for them. They are both the sweetest people and I've been a fangirl of their love story from the beginning (even before they officially started dating, hehe). Wedding was beautiful, relaxed, fun and full of happiness and love. Very them. Last time I went to a wedding I really cared about was back in 2012 when one of my cousins got married. So yeah, I loved being a part of their love story and sharing this moment with them.

 ๐Ÿ’š

The theme was green and succulents so of course I wanted to find pretty nails to match my green dress. At first I was planning to make a wedding look post, especially because I rarely wear green and I bought a green dress just for the wed but, I didn't take any dress or outfit pics.

Not the best pic but, this is the dress I wore with a black blazer
The wedding was in the afternoon so I kept the makeup and accessories pretty simple.

The nails were too pretty not to share so, yeah. As usual, these are glue-on nail, from Temu. I was between these and a darker set, both with gold details but honestly, green is not my favorite color so I liked these lighter ones a lot more.

I feel like the nails looks a little blue in pics but they are mint green with a pearlish finish to them. It also came with a couple of nude and gold nails. I liked them way more than I thought it would.

This set came with 24 medium almond shape nails, a small file and the sticker glue thingies. I'm starting to have way too many of those sticker things that now, I carry them in different bags just in case I need them.

Since not all nails were the same, I wanted to show you both hands.

I still find it hard to take decent nail pics.

Even tho these nails were very clean and pretty, durability wasn't that great, after wearing them for like 3 days, the pearlish cover started to peel on some nails, pearls fell and even the green color faded on the tips. I'm glad they looked great on the wedding day but, I wish they could've lasted longer. Oh well~

And, that's that guys. Hope you enjoyed this nail post with a twist, hehe.

See you next time~!๐Ÿ’‹

✏ Teacher Chit Chat #9: A year after I quit working in schools

It's been a little over a year since I stopped working at a school and a lot more than that since my last teacher chit chat update kinda thing so, I guess we'll be doing that today.

I remember when I was working at schools, my bestie (who is also an English teacher among other things) once told me that once she stopped working for schools, she knew she'd never go back. And, even tho I didn't like many things about it, I didn't feel that way until I quit my school job. Now I know I wouldn't go back either. People say you should never say never but at least I know I wouldn't do it unless I really had to or, after a while away from it. Before I continue, I want to say that all my experience has been on private schools, I don't know how things are in public schools.

Let's go back in time a little to tell you how I started teaching, I'll keep it short cuz I've written about it in the past. As some of you might already know, I am a fashion designer but I never really worked as one, it was just not my thing. So, while I was figuring what to do with my life, I took a teaching job at this small kindergarten to do something in the meantime. Honestly, I didn't like teaching and, I didn't like kids, I was not patient but, I liked English so, that seemed to be enough.

That "temporary job" ended up lasting for years! The pay was really bad but back then I didn't really need much money since I was pretty young and was still living with my parents. There I learned a lot about teaching, became much more patient with kids and actually started to enjoy teaching. It also taught me how toxic working environment and people can be. I can say tho, that most of the parents there were super sweet and nice, which is something I didn't see in my future jobs that much. Towards my last year working there I was in a very low and dark moment in my life, so I started making my life revolve around my teaching job, you can defo see that on my post from that time. I wanted to look as if teaching was my passion and the most important thing in my life, I wanted to sound like a super inspirational teacher or something, LOL. And to be honest? It has never been my passion. Don't get me wrong, I do like it a lot and enjoy what I do, I love my students but, it is a job for me. I know some people say that your job and the things you're passionate about should come togehter; I think whoever gets to do that, is very lucky!

I decided to quit that job, my first official job, but at that point I couldn't stand the environment there and I knew I needed a change. That same year I went to Spain for a couple of months and it felt like a reset in a way. Did it change everything for me? Not really. But I came back more motivated to change things in my life.

I was lucky enough to find a new teaching job almost right away, this time at a new elementary school I had eyeballed before. The idea of working with older kids was terrifying but a bigger school felt like a good upgrade. At that same time I also started working at a language center, the same one I'm currently working at. And that's when I started having 2 jobs, haha.

I worked there for a couple of years until it got ugly, I had one of the worst bosses there and in a way, indirectly, she pushed me to quit. I met great people there and my cconfidence working with older students grew. Working at the language center helped a lot too cuz I had the chance to start working with teens and even adults, which I liked a lot more.

Now that I'm writing this, I think I've been very lucky when it comes to finding jobs, cuz as soon as I quit there, the school where my mom was working at needed an English teacher and, I took it. It was only for a couple of months really cuz I joined almost in the middle of the school year. It was a Montessori school, and even if it was for a short period of time, I hated it. Plus they had a lot of money problems, super rude kids and no control... it was bad.

Before that school year ended, the pandemic started and as soon as I was done with Montessori, I started working at this project from another private school to go to different houses and work with small groups during the pandemic so they could take presential clases. It sounds crazy now that I think about it but it went pretty well, it kept me busy and with good money throughout the madness of what was going on. Even tho we did have some special parents, and not everything was nice and easy, I can tell it's one of my favorite working experiences so far. It was exhausting, and I was always running because of my other job but, I really enjoyed it.

After the pandemic, the same people who started that home-school project, decided to open a new school and took me with them, haha. It was a big elementary school, on the other side of the city but, I was excited. The team was a great one, we really worked pretty well together and I especially loved the English team, we had a great coordinator and we all became close. But they had lots of issues with the management, money and payments. After 2 years, I decided to quit because of many reasons, money being one of the main ones.

I was just no longer motivated, I was tired of always having to give my 1000% but having to put up with delayed payments, sacrificing my free time because they wanted us to work on some weekends, go to this courses with no pay on our vacations or spend hours in a meeting after working hours. And I know training is important but, it wasn't even useful for us English teachers. It was all about giving, giving, giving and not receiving anything in return. Plus some students were super difficult and, so were the parents. We didn't have the support we should've had.

And that was when I just knew I didn't want to work for a school anymore. Quitting was scary this time because I had a house and other responsibilities now but things went pretty well since I kept my teaching job at the language center and started focusing a lot more on it and taking more and more classes. I didn't really talk about the language center that much because I am actually happy there and I wanted to focus this post more on the school part. I can say than my current boss is a great, supportive one. I've known her for years now and she is someone I can actually learn a lot from, I'm happy where I am right now. I get to choose (most) of the groups I wanna work with and I also have time for myself.

I think after quitting, my stress levels decreased a lot, I was able to start focusing on just 1 teaching job and give my 100% there, I am no longer running all the time and I actually have time for myself since I works from homee a couple of day a week. I'm not expected to work extra hours with no pay and being available 24/7 and, I don't have to put up with toxic bosses and unrealistic expectations from them.

It's funny but, I also feel that I'm not even that worried about money now that I have just one job. I'm motivated again and I enjoy what I do. I realized planning events and festivals for younger kids it's just not my thing anymore. Some people think teaching jobs are easy and well paid, let me tell you it is not true. At least in most cases. It's physically and mentally exhausted and you end up working a lot more than just your "working hours."

But, do I miss something about working at private schools? If I'm completely honest, just the ton of presents I used to receive during Holidays and special days.๐Ÿ˜œI think quitting was a very good decision that I don't regret making and I don't think that'll change in a while.

This chit chat ended up being way longer than I thought it'd be, sorry about that, sometimes I feel extra chatty. I bet some things are all over the place and I don't even know if I kept the main idea of this post in the end but, thank you if you read til the end, haha.

I'll see you next time~!๐Ÿ’‹

Spooky Haul ๐Ÿง›

Is anyone surprised that we have another spooky haul? Haha. I keep getting small stuff I wanna share around here so, we're doing it. This time I'm including something I got for my furry babies too and, of course, more bat stuff.

Then again, most things are from Temu, I'll include the store with the items that aren't.

First we have this fun Child's Play magnet from tattu. For some reason, Chucky has become one of my favorite horror characters so, I knew I had to get it.

This was one of the things I was the most excited about: Bloody knives / sharp weapons whatever you wanna call them, toys for the cats. They have catnip inside so they are extra attractive for the kitties. The set came with 4, my babies kept 2 and gave the other 2 to their furry cousins. I know I'm gonna buy more in the future.

Killer cats! ๐Ÿ—ก

I saw a youtuber I follow wearing similar sunnies and I was obsessed, I wanted them! I was super happy when I found them online. These bat sunglasses could've been a hit or miss cuz I wasn't sure if I was going to look good wearing them. I call them my Lydia Deetz sunnies cuz I feel it's something she'd defo wear.

And since I got the sunnies, I had to get a case. It's barely big enough for them, but it's ok. If they didn't fit, I was planning to us them for my regular glasses. It is a soft case tho, thick but soft. Love the ink and black combo.

I thought this sign would be a funny thing to add to my bathroom. It's made of thin wood and it's not too big really, about 10x20cm. I just love it way too much! It could've been part of the Witchy Haul I shared last week now that I think about it...

And to finish this haul, we have some bat nails. I thought the design was really pretty and they aren't exactly Halloween nails so I can wear them anytime. They are longer than I thought tho~

I promise this is the last haul this month, hehe. Can't promise anything for next month, especially with Fall and Halloween getting closer and closer.

See you next time~!๐Ÿ’‹

Bat Glue-On Nails๐Ÿฆ‡

Excuse the cat hair, oops!

If you've been here for a while, you know I am glue-on nails queen. They are fun, convenient and cheap. And the cool thing about buying some online is that you can find spooky designs or seasonal ones all year round.

As I have mentiones before, I've been obsessing with bats lately, it is the year of the bat for me, haha. These do-it-yourself  nails are from Temu (surprise, surprise!) and I think they are really pretty and magical somehow.

This set comes with 24 long, almond shape nails, a small file and some some sticker glue kind of thing. It's nice that they actually came with some glue since others I've gotten for more well-known brands haven't but, I'm always more comfortable using liquid glue and keep the stickers around in case of emergencies, I usually carry one set in my bag.

The desing is really pretty but they do look "printed" when you look at them closely. Nothing too bad really. I love the fact that they have this nude, natural color along with the black and white details. Especially because they are on the longer side. At least longer than what I'm used to wear.

Closer look to the bats and the design in general.

I know the design is upside down here but I wanted to show you how the nails look on my hands, they look so long, haha. But I kinda really like it. It took me a while to get used to doing thing with these longer nails tho.

I like them a lot ❤

Something I noticed is that the design doesn't fade and the tips still look good after weeks of wearing them (Yeah, these have been on for a few weeks now, hehe) and that is something that has happened with more expensive nails in the past.

Checking the other nails that were left, I was able to save another set for the future so, I might actually wait until October to wear them this time, hehe.

That's it for this post so, I'll see you next time~!! ๐Ÿ’‹

Witchy Haul ๐Ÿ”ฎ

I don't think I've ever shown you this broom I got last year, I'm absolutely obsessed with how pretty it is. Even if it's not part of the haul, I wanted to share it here. The lucky Witch was a souvenir I brought back fom Alcalรก del Jucar in Spain back in 2019.

I've always loved Witches and everything magic related and along with my recent spooky purchases, I've gotten some witchy looking things cuz I want to incorporate some magic into my house too. So I decided to share them in a different post because... they are not really spooky.

Let's take a closer look at these magical cuties!

I love magnets, I love to have my fridge full of them along with some pics, I am that person. And of course, I want to add magic to it too, so I got this cute tarot card from tattu. They had lots of 90s magnets, movie magnets, all that fun stuff. I only grabbed this and a Child's Play one back in July at this random bazaar and, I love them.

This was a cute random find at a Chinese store. I've liked Sanrio characters for years and, even tho  Kuromi is not my all time fav, I still like her a lot so, I couldn't resist when I saw this Witch Kuromi sheet mask. How cute is it? I haven't used it and I'm not expecting it to be super good but, it's a fun thing to have and wear on a self care spooky night.

This metal sign was part of the things I got for my coffee station upgrade. I decided I won't wait until Halloween to have certain things on display all year round and, this is one of them. It is orange, which is not my favorite color but, I love everything about it. This one is from Temu.

Black cat + magic elements = perfect! I love cats so I knew I wanted this one for my room. I've been trying to give it some love cuz honestly? I kinda neglect it and it's one of my least favorite places in my house. The shelf was smaller than I thought and I really haven't put anything on it cuz I don't know what to decorate it with but I still think it's pretty cute. It is from Temu too.

And then again, these 2 are from Temu. When I got them, I thought I was only getting one, receiving two was a very nice surprise. They are suncatchers with the phases of the moon. I think they are soooo pretty and the quality is pretty good, the glass pieces are heavy and the golden moons are made of wood.

I have one hanging from my bedroom's window and the other one in the livingroom.

Lastly we have some glue-on nails, we al know I'm a fan by now. I wouldn't say these are 100% witchy, cuz they could be like "galaxy nails" too but, to me they look magical and that's enough to share them in here. The pic doesn't show much but, they dark blue with small stars.

And that will be it for this haul, as always I hope you enjoyed taking a look at some of the new goodies I've gotten for me and my place. I know I've shared many hauls lately but, I can't help it, I keep collectings things I want to share with y'all.

See you next time~!

Recent Reads: Dystopia Utopia Gothic Fantasy Short Stories

And here we are, with my second book of the year! I know for some that is not much but, for me, it really is. Especially considering how thick this book was.

Dystopia Utopia Short Stories by Flame Tree is a book my friend lent me a while ago cuz she thought it'd have horror stories, I remember I started reading it and stopped after starting the second story but I decided to continue reading it back in February and actually finish it this time.

The Beetlejuice bookmark has nothing to do with the book but I used it while reading it and, I am obsessed with it.

According to the internet, this book is packed with bleak and paradisiacal visions in equal measure. Adventures in worlds of boundless imagination from classic authors are cast with previously unpublished stories by exciting budding contemporary writers. Honestly I don't know much about writers in general but, you can defo see the different styles they all have as you read their stories.

Only a few of the many authors in this book.

It's supposed to bring together myths, folklore and modern fiction with suspense, supernatural, science fiction and mystery. To me, it felt a little more science fiction and apocalyptic to be honest, which are not my favorites. It includes 30 different stories, not all of them are short tho. Somehow I found some of the shorter stories more interesting than the super long ones, some of them got tiring at some point. Not saying they were bad, they were just not my type of story. Plus, the longer stories sometimes had like... old words, which made them difficult to read or understand.

It doesn't come with any kind of illustrations but the way each story is presented is really pretty as well as the book in general. It is beautiful! All black with gold and silver details, I'd defo put it somewhere people could see it if it was mine.

All in all, I wouldn't say it is a bad book. I didn't love all the stories but, I did enjoy reading it til the end. I saw they also have Chilling Horror Short Stories, Chilling Ghost Short Stories and Murder Mayhem Short Stories (among others), I think those would be a little bit more for me.

These are some of the stories I enjoyed the most. Of course they were not the only ones but, I couldn't remember all the titles, hehe.

I've felt a lot more motivated to read this year, I already have some options for my next read, it'll be a shorter book for sure so, I'm sure I'll be back with another book post soon-ish. Feel free to send me some recommendations, I feel like I'm just discovering the type of books I actually enjoy reading.

See you next time~!๐Ÿ’‹

Loungewear Haul

I rarely post about clothes around here, and it has defo been a while. Last month I received some loungewear from my mom and sister and I thought it would be a little different, even if it's still a haul. Hehe.

So, I know it's Summer right now but the weather has been cold and gloomy lately so, this clothes make sense to me right now.

I love comfy clothes, especially when I work from home so I've been enjoying these pieces a lot. I took the photos in different days, different hours as I started wearing them. That's why they are all different, plus I am the worst when it comes to taking clothes pictures... so ignore that and, my awkward posing. With that being said, let's start!

I really like this sweatshirt, it is from a brand called Hem & Thread and it has this not too crazy tie dye in this almost aqua blue color and cream. (I suck at describing colors). The fabric isn't thick but it's still warm enough to wear on a cooler day. I love the knot detail at the bottom, it gives it a sublte girly touch.

I really like this one, super comfy and pretty cute.

Ok, turtlenecks are not the most flattering on me but, I do like to have them to wear them under other pieces when it gets really cold. This one is a very light cream one, super easy to match. It is slightly loose and very long too. It's from a brand called H2H.

It is a little see through tho, and I honestly don't think I'd wear it like this but, I had to so I could show you.

The next piece is this mauve pink cardigan from Phil Love. It isn't super thick but it is warm enough. I think it'll be perfect for the Fall.

Since I was already wearing the turtle neck, I decided to pair them to show you how the cardi looks. It is very long but comfy. I really like the color.

I've become a huge fan of this maxi sweatshirt from Doublju. The camera didn't really capture the color that great but it's this really pretty pistachio green. It's long enough to wear as a dress. It's not super thick tho, so you can layer it for colder days or wear it alone during warm ones.

No makeup me, hi!
As you can see, it goes all the way down to above the knee. It's super comfy!

And, we have more tie dye! These pants are from a brand called Enti Clothing and they are the softest and most comfortable thing ever! Even tho I always find printed pants a little difficult to match, I love their color combination.

They are not very thick but the fabric is soft and warm. Super comfortable to wear around the house.

This piece fromThe Free Yoga is the most girly piece of this haul. It's a light blue, spring, cardigan kind of thingy. It has short sleeves but it's thick enough to keep you warm on a not-super-cold day.

It only has two front buttons, it kinda reminds me of the blouses that were trending back in the 90's. I'm really not confident enough to wear it alone so, I had to wear something underneath but I think wearing as it is would be a super cute look on someone else.

Lastly we have (surprise, surprise) another pair of tie dye pants. They are very similar to the ones I showed you earlier but way baggier. They are from a brand called Chris & Carol, then again, super soft and comfy. I wear them as pj's.

Pj's pic!

And, that's everything guys, I think by now the only piece I haven't worn yet is the turtleneck cuz it hasn't been that cold yet. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with all the pieces, they really are super comfy!!

See you next time~!๐Ÿ’‹
