Buffy the Vampire Slayer Old Haul + Chit Chat πŸ§›

Super unrelated picture of me rocking my dark circles era πŸ˜…

Back in January I started rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer thanks to my sister. It was one of our favorite shows growing up and we shared the love with my cousins. We’d even play to BTVS, try to dress like the characters and knew the Once More With Feeling songs by heart. Of course I've watched the 1992 movie with Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry, I liked it but I fell in love with the whole thing when I started watching the show.

And of course, Spike has been a big crush of mine for the longest time now, I know, I know, he was very toxic but, he's was a vamp, most of them are like that. Right? Plus he had a loving, caring side too. I just think James Marsters is one of the sexiest men ever, even if he is old enough to be my dad, hehe.

I just can't. ❤️‍πŸ”₯

Once the revival thing was confirmed, many people started sending me the links to the announcement and I even shared the excitement with one of my cousins. I’m kinda looking forward to see what they do with it but, I’m specially excited about seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar back as Buffy. She’s defo one of my fav characters ever.

To continue with my excitement, I thought I could share an old haul around here. A mini haul of BTVS old goodies I still keep and add 1 item I recently got.

I'll start with the oldies cuz there's something super nostalgic about them and I love them so, so much. It was veeeeery difficult to find Buffy goodies back then, at least where I live. And I guess if there was something, it was probably expensive. I'm glad I kept what I had.

The first thing I'm gonna show you is my BTVS magazine. It is from 2003. OMG. I didn't know these existed until I went to Canada and saw them. I believe it was a monthly magazine but I only got one. I didn't read it back then, or at least I don't remember doing it, I was just focusing on the photos. I did read it at some point. The magazine shared news, interviews with cast members, merch and some behind the scenes stuff.

Front & back cover

It came with this poster.

Next is something I also bought in Canada. It is my BTVS Mini Lunch Box Tin with bubble gum. The bubble gum was super cute because they were mini stakes, can't remember the flavor though. I remember my cousin was helping me to find them in a better price cuz they were expensive. I regret not getting the Spike + Buffy one but, I'm happy with the one I have.

Lastly we have the BTVS Once More With Feeling Official Soundtrack which incliudes all the songs from the musical episode with the same name. My sister & I would watch this episode over and over again until we learned all the songs and dialogues and, at some point, my dad bought us the CD. Then, that was the one on replay. So I guess this wasn't only my CD but I kept it so, yeah. I still know all the lyrics to the songs, it has to be one of my favorite musicals ever.

I used to have a couple of comics too but I really don't know what happened to them, I only have 2 posters that came there. I'm including them here too.

Now we'll move on to my newest addition.

I am team spuffy forever, that's why I knew I had to get this cap as soon as I saw it. It's perfect! I found it on Temu. Quality wise, it's ok. I wish it was embroidered instead of printed but, oh well. It still looks cute. I got a black one for my sister too because, she's also a Buffy + Spike fan.

That's all I have for now but, I've been checking some stuff online so, I might make another Buffy haul in the future.
Tell me if you ever watched the show, if you liked it and who was your fav? I'd love to know!

See you next time~! πŸ©ΈπŸ’‹

Current Obsessions πŸ’•

This will be a bit of a random post where I share some of the things I've been obsessing over lately. When I'm obsessed with something, I obsess hard, LOL.

I think I'll start with some podcasts, I've shared other podcasts in separate posts (Podcast Recommendations #1 & #2) but, I haven't listened to too many new ones lately so, I don't have enough to make a separate post.

The Dating Detectives was a recommendation from the bestie. On this podcast, Private Investigator Mackenzie Fultz and Comedian Hanna Anderson talk about stories of liars, cheaters, and con-men in the dating world. The stories are pretty interesting and juicy, they have guests who tell their stories but they do it in a very fun way. I've been binge listening.

Schmactors is the other pod I'm currently listening to. If I could include a person in this post it'd be James Marsters. I am absolutely obsessed with everything he does, haha. So, I love to listen to his voice talking about anything and everything. I started listening to this podcast he has with actor Mark Devine and Jason DeFillippo. It's a very fun and relaxed podcast in which they answer questions about random topics from the audience.

And now that I mentioned James Marsters I could use him as a connection to the next thing I've been obsessing over since the year started, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yeah, it is so not a new show and I know it but, I loved it growing up and I just decided to start rewatching it this year. Right now I'm on season 5 and I'm more than ready for season 6, it's one of my all time favs. I assume most people my age know this show but, if you don't, the name is very self explanatory. And they have James as Spike. The hottest vampire ever.

I've been watching other shows too but I think I'll save those for a show recommendation post. I'll move on to some music now. And yeah, it starts with more James Marsters.

Ghost of the Robot is an American rock band from the early 2000s. I knew about it before, but I started officially listening to it this year and, I love it! Their last album was released back in 2023 and even tho, it is great, I'm loving the older songs way too much, they have this 90s vibe so, yeah.

Next one is a song I think I mentioned in a previous post. Burning letters by Natasha Hamilton. I've loved Natasha since she was part of Atomic Kitten, she has this amazing, powerful voice and she's been releasing new music. Burning Letters is my favorite so far. It's been on replay since it came out earlier this year.

Another single that has been on replay for me is Use my heart against me by Jessica Simpson. She's finally releasing new music after over 10 years and this first single is just great. It's a bit of a country - rock song and I honestly think country siuts her the best. It's pretty different from things she's done before.

Last two things I wanna share are makeup related. Lately I changed my go-to lippies for darker shades even tho the warmer weather is coming and the thing to do would be going for brighter ones... I think πŸ˜…

The first one is this e.l.f. Matte Lip Color lip crayon in the shade "Wine". It is such a beautiful wine shade, hence the name haha. Even tho it's a matte lippie, it doesn't dry your lips. Durability wise, it's great! It lasts for hours.

Next one is the Sephora Shimmer Lip Gloss in the shade "Sugar plum". Even tho this one is super sheer, it has a nice and very subtle shimmer to it. When you apply it on its own, it gives your lips this kind of my lips but better look but I like to apply on top of the e.l.f. lippie to give it a glossy touch. It smells like berries and, I love that!

And, I think that's it guys. Some of the things I've been loving lately. It felt like writing those old "monthly favs" post but without pushing myself to have favorites to share. Haha.

See you next time~!πŸ’‹

The 30 Interesting Questions Tag

I love answering these questionnaires tags kinds of thingies so, here are are, answering the first one this year. I feel like it's a good way to learn more about others. Not that I feel people want to learn more about me but, still. You get my point.

Anyway, let's start answering the questions.

 1. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?

Mon and Montse are the most common ones. I like both so, I guess I have no preference there.

2. How often do you doodle? What do your doodles look like?

I rarely do it to be honest. It only happens when I'm with my friends, they are the artsy ones and sometimes we do activities that involve drawing and doodling. I enjoy it, just don't it when I'm alone.

Bonta-kun!

3. What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep? Toss and turn? Try to get up and do something productive?

Toss and turn and end up watching TV.

4. Do people consider you to be talkative or quiet?

I guess it depends. I'm usually very talkative unless I don't like the person or feel uncomfortable.

5. What makes you cry?

Some movies, songs (especially after my dad's passing), pretty words, stress and sometimes being veeeeery angry makes me cry too.

6. What is your biggest pet peeve?

This might be a silly one but I really hate it when people's noses make this whistling sound when they breathe, I even find it annoying when it happens to me. Also when people (especially guys) have nothing to say but to comment on someone's appearance.

7. How many times a day do you look at yourself in the mirror?

I don't know. When I'm getting ready in the morning, need to retouch my makeup and at night while getting unready. Other than those, could be if something gets in my eye or if I want to see something in particular.

I wonder if someone actually counts how many times they do it~

8. What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?

I used to believe that everytime my bedroom window made popping noises at night, something or someone was out there. I would try not to move until it popped again, in my head, that meant whatever was outside was gone.

9. What is the guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?

Junk food at midnight. I know it's not the healthiest option but this girl loves her midnight snacks. Also, the Xuxa Dance cassette (yes, I'm that old). Songs are good, lol. I still enjoy it.

10. Who performs the most random acts of kindness out of everyone you know?

I'd say my friend Dee Dee. She's one of the most selfless people I know. She'd always find a way to help you and cheer you up, no matter if the situation is small or a very srious one.

11. How often do you read the newspaper? Which sections?

I've never read it really.

12. Which animal scares you the most?

I don't think there's one that scares me really, there are some I don't like (especially insects) but I wouldn't say I find them super scary.

13. Are you more likely to avoid conflict or engage with it?

I think engage but I've been learning to control that better. Not like avoiding avoiding, but more like engaging only if I really have to.

14. What is the most recent compliment you’ve received?

Don't remember the exact words but, it was something about my hair looking really nice.

15. What question are you tired of hearing?

Mmm... questions related to my relationship status maybe?

16. What is the strangest thing you have eaten?

Grasshoppers. I don't think they are that weird anymore. I do like to mix certain things that might be strange for some people but, nothing too intense, haha.

17. Do you have a whole lot of acquaintances or just a few very close friends?

I think I do have a lot of acquaintances and only a few people I really consider close friends. I've always been a little selective but time has taught me not to let just anyone walk into my life.

My fav people ♡

18. Do you have a catchphrase?

"Que no se pierda el motivo" 🍻 has been my fav for a while now.

19. What’s your all-time favourite town or city? Why?

That I have been to... defo towns and cities I visited in Spain. I fell in love with Valencia but, if I have to choose maybe Teruel and AlcalΓ‘ del Jucar, they have this "straigh out from a movie" vibe.

Teruel

AlcalΓ‘ del Jucar

20. If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?

I've wanted to change my first name since I can remember. I'd change it for Layla, I've always liked that name.

21. When was the last time you lied?

I don't remember. It's not like I never lie, but I really can't recall the last time I did.

22. What’s something that amazes you?

Creative, artistic people. I feel like I'm surrounded by them and I love the different ways they express themselves.

23. Would you rather be the first person to explore a planet or be the inventor of a drug that cures a deadly disease?

The inventor of a drug that cures a deadly disease, I think it'd make a bigger impact and would be a lot more helpful in life.

24. What is your favourite amateur activity?

I'd say blogging, vlogging and taking photos.

25. What was your first thought when you got up this morning?

When I got up? Let's make some coffee.

26. What is your favourite song (at least at the moment)?

At the moment is Burning letters by Natasha Hamilton

27. List someone you know and describe them in five words.

Lu, the bestie:

Creative, talented, loving, beautiful, bestest.

28. You can select one person from history and have them truthfully answer one question. Who would you select and what would the question be?

I don't have like a very historical choice here. The first person I can think of is Elizabeth Short (aka the Black Dahlia), I'd ask her about who killed her. Hehe.

29. Which celebrity or artist do you resemble the most?

I've been told I resemble Amy Adams a couple of times. She's the only one who comes to mind, I haven't really thought about it.

30. What do you want me to know?

That despite my resting bitch face, I'm a very silly and easy to approach person.

And, there you go guys, 30 questions about... me! Haha. Feel free to answer them yourselves, I'd love to read!

Me and resting bitch face will see you next time~! πŸ’‹

🍁 Pressies from Canada 🍁

At the end of January my uncle and aunt came over from Canada. They usually come every year and visit friends and family. We got the chance to spend some really nice time together catching up back in January and also during this month on a family weekend in Ixtapan de la Sal visiting grandpa, laughing and just enjoying each others' company. Grandpa was very happy to have two of his children together.

They also brought pressies with them and, of course, I want to share in here, hehe. I've mentioned this before, there's something I really like about making these type of posts🀭 so, here I am, sharing another pressies haul with you.

First we have this cute pink pj's. They are super soft and warm even tho they aren't that thick. Love the color and the silver details on it.

Second we have a car phone mount, which is something I really wanted and was planning to buy. Mostly because of the vlogging thing but I know they are a very useful thing to have in the car when you're driving.

Redcrest Cardinal Golf Club beanie. It is pretty warm and comfy, perfect for this cold weather. It is something I'll be wearing every year.

Mary Kay hydrogel eye patches. Love, love, love eye patches. This one comes with 30 pairs and they are pink and sparkly!

Can you see the glitter?✨

Meeting again was a great way to start the year and the month. I love my pressies but I love the memories we made even more. Hope we can repeat this sometime soon! ♡
That's it for this pressies haul / chit chat.

See you next time~!πŸ’‹

Valentine's Day Haul πŸ’–

Even tho I said Valentine's Day is not one of my favorite holidays, I do like the aesthetic of it, you know, pink and hearts everywhere. And even tho I don't decorate my house for Valie's Day like I used to many years ago, I still like to buy things to keep as all year round decoration. Everything I got this year is from Walmart.

Let's get started with the haul.

First, I got this small wooden chalk board. Do I need it? probs not but I think it's cute. I can just write random phrases and put it pretty much everywhere in the house.

This has to be one of my favorite pieces from this haul. It's a ceramic vase with hearts all over it. I loved this one because it doesn't scream Valentine's day, especially because of the colors.

I've seen this small bowls every year and I finally decided to get them this year. They come in a set of 4, they are pastic and great for snacks, dessert or side dishes. They also had them in red but, you know me, I had to get the pink ones.

Maybe these do scream Valie's Day a litte but, I really like conversation hearts, they're too cute. Plus, most of my kitchen cloths and towels are pink anyway.

La Moderna Valentine's Day red pasta. I haven't even made it yet but I loved it when I saw it. It'd be perfect for Halloween too! I think of it as "bloody pasta" haha. I've bought other colorful pastas from this brand before and, they're good. They make them with natural food coloring, in this case beetroot.

Lastly, I got these stainless steel straws for sale only a couple of days after Valie's. I loved the fact that they have a heart shape, it gives them an extra something. I kept one and gave the other to my mom cuz she always likes to use straws.

And that's it for this year's Valie's haul. I'm not sure if I'll end up buying more things next time I go cuz they already have the cutest strawberry goodies for Spring and... I'm a sucker for strawberry everything. Hehehe.

See you next time~! πŸ’‹

L.O.V.E. ♥ Then vs Now | Going through old Heart-to-heart posts

It's Valie's Day and even tho it is not my favorite holiday, there was a time when I was obsessed with love, relationships and well...Valentine's Day. I remember really worrying about having presents for everyone, making plans and especially, if I had someone to spend it with. Don't get me wrong, I'd still celebrate it with the people I love but, it is not something I'm too worried about anymore.

Not long ago, I went through some of my old posts and I couldn't help but to laugh at some of them. For some reason I used to think I was a love and relationship expert which couldn't be further from the truth. But then I thought it'd be interesting to share like an updated version of some of those super cheesy Heart-to-heart posts every now and then and see how much has changed with time.

The one I chose is just called Heart-to-heart: L.O.V.E. ♥, I wrote it back in 2014 and it was supposed to be a Valentine's month kind of post, that's why I chose it for this month too. I'll link it in case you want to read it, hehe.

I'll start with some things I read there that still feel true to me to this day, the first one being the fact that love shouldn't be celebrated only one day, and I don't mean just romantic love. There are so many ways to demonstrate the people you love that you care all year round. And I don't mean just with gifts; of course it's nice to give and receive pressies but to me, just sharing life and being there no matter what is a great way to show and feel loved. I also still think, and now more than ever, that love doesn't only and always come in a romantic partner. Love also comes in our friends, family, pets and, even ourselves. I've found soulmates in people I have no romantic connections with. And I can say my friends are my most stable relationships ever.

Back then when I wrote that post I was so in love, that's why I said things "Love will find you eventually~!! (trust me!)" which makes me cringe now, haha. I don't believe love magically appears in front of you anymore (not that it happened magically back then either). Relationships in general aren't easy, they need effort, time and commitment from both sides but every now and then you'll find people with whom all this "effort" doesn't feel like it and it becomes fun and natural. I am lucky to have people like that in my life now.

I feel like for a long time I was too focused on saying whether it was important or not to worry about finding a partner, having a relationship and all that stuff, just because I felt I had it all. I've been in love before, yes. Has it ended in the most beautiful, happily ever after kind of way? Of course not. My dating & relationships history suck, and I know the girl who wrote that heart-to-heart at that moment completely changed the way she felt about love and relationships with time. But I guess that is a topic for another post, hehe.

All in all, I don't think the post was that bad, it was cheesy but I can still agree with part of it. Love is an everyday thing and we souldn't worry too much about the labels. Life goes on and it's still fun.

I guess that'll be it for this post, I don't want to make it a super long one. Let me know if you'd like to read more posts like this, I have other H2Hs with "deeper" thoughts we could go through in the future.

Happy Valie's Day y'all! X
