いただきます! | Wabi Sabi |

"Wabi Sabi is an ancient aesthetic philosophy rooted in Zen Buddhism, particularly the tea ceremony, a ritual of purity and simplicity in which masters prized bowls that were handmade and irregularly shaped, with uneven glaze, cracks, and a perverse beauty in their deliberate imperfection."

Japanese food has to be my favorite food in this world, I could eat it everyday if possible. My friends share that passion with me so we got together and decided to visit Wabi Sabi for lunch.

Wabi Sabi is a Japanese restaurant I discovered a few years ago thanks to my friend Lu. We had tea and taiyaki there once, but I never actually had a proper meal until now.

The way the presented the tea was very pretty.

Yum!

The second time I went there was because they had a little Hello Kitty event. I quickly stopped by with my mom, bought a few things and... had taiyaki again! This was before the pandemic, of course.

It was nice to finally try some of their dishes. The place is pretty cute actually, nothing too fancy but it's a nice, open place to eat. I believe before the pandemic they even had live music and little market sales every now and then.

Cute fishies welcome you to the place

I really liked this crane wall

Koinobori at the entrance.

Luckily, it wasn't crowded when we were there. They have less tables available at the moment and of course, take out service. We chose a combo that included a mini ramen, sushi rolls, onigiri and a drink. (I forgot the name of it tho~~~)

My onigiri had breaded shrimp inside, it was absolutely delicious.

Happy to be reunited!

Everything was pretty good. I was full when I finished my meal. Cuz yeah, I ate the whole thing.

"Agua Bonita" I tried mango-mint water. It was really refreshing!!

The staff was nice and they didn't take forever delivering our food. Prices wise, I think it's good, especially for the amount you get.

I'll leave their IG account in case you wanna check it out and visit them some time.

They gave us a crane each when we were about to pay.

I think we're defo coming back!

Café Loraine, my new happy place!

A few weeks ago I was introduced to this café and I knew I had to go as soon as I scrolled down their Instagram account. Everything is just too pretty!

My friends & I decided to go last weekend and try some of their seasonal drinks as well as their food. They have lots of Sakura stuff right now, and you know how much I love sakura.

It is called Loraine. They said their inspiration comes from the Hanami culture. They actually have a "hanami experience" event thing every Thursday. I wish I could go!

I'm gonna start with the decoration cuz I just loved it! Everything is white and pink, super cute and super girly. It has lots of spots where you can take nice pics and even the tiniest things have details that make this place special.

It is not a big café and we did have to make a reservation because of the pandemic. The sanitation measures were great from the moment we arrived to the place, they even gave us a small paper bag to put our masks in while we ate and stuff.

At the beginning we sat in the "common area" I guess, which was really nice and cute but once the VIP zone was free, we were moved there, which was great because we were super separated fromthe rest of the world (only 2 other tables) and well... we're too loud so, it was better for everyone. Hehe 😅

We were hungry so we started with fresh drinks and lunch.

We all had lemonades: Purple lemonade, pink lemonade and Manhattan lemonade.

Shepperd's pie, I didn't tried this one but the smell was great!

Caprese sandwich with salad. The bread was pink!! I took a bite and it was delish.

I had the Loraine Quiche. It also came with salad and I really, really liked it.

And even tho we were tempted to order dessert, we decided to try hot drinks instead.

I had the Cappuccino Sakura of course. It's one of their seasonal drinks, it's the perfect mix between stong coffee and sweet cherry. It also had marshmallows on top.

Diana had another seasonal drink: Chai Latte Sakura. The whole presentation of this drink is just beautiful and the taste was pretty good too. Not super sweet.

And Eonni had the Taro Latte, this one wasn't exactly sweet but very... taro-ish!

The 3 of us were happy we got the chance to go. We literally spent hours catching up! The staff were very friendly and service was great. Prices wise I wouldn't say it's cheap but isn't expensive either. To me, the whole experience was worth it.

And well, one of the girls from the staff helped us to take some pics so, I'm gonna share them here. Apparently their decoration changes every 2 months or so, depending on the season.

They open Tue - Sun from 9am to 8pm. They also have take out service, especially now. Totes recommend this place. I truly think it'll become one of my favs now!

🌸 Flower Sculptures | Town Square Spring 2021 |

It's Spring! And that means: Flowers everywhere!

A few days ago, my mom found out about this "Flower Festival" that was held in Town Square and since we can't really do much on our Spring break, we decided to make a quick stop and check it out.

Town Square is a shopping center that has many open spaces so, I wasn't as paranoid to be there (I only took my mask off for the pic tho). We also went as early as possible, knowing it wouldn't be too crowded and didn't spend much time there.

To our surprise, it wasn't really a "festival", it looked more like nice Spring decoration with artificial flowers. Still the sculptures looked nice and I can't imagine the work behind them.

These are all the sculptures we found on the first floor. We didn't really check the others but, they don't really decorate the other floors much anyway.

My fav has to be the peacock, it was also the biggest one.

HR Giger - Solo con la noche exhibition

Early this month I was invited to go to the HR Giger exhibition in Mexico City. To be honest I had no idea of what to expect since I wasn't familar with him or his work. I only knew he was the guy who designed the famous aliens from the movie, Alien.

Now I know he's a well known Swiss artist with a very unique goth and biomechanical style(?) who won an Oscar for special effects.
His work kinda reminded me of Aeon Flux. hehehe.

I'm not the best when it comes to describing things, especially art. All I can say is that going to the exhibition was an interesting experience and if you are a fan, you should definitely go cuz I feel like there are so many cool things for true fans.

In this expo you'll find paintigs, photos, furniture,  sculptures and of course, Aliens! You can also buy official merch like books, t-shirts and super expensive replicas of his paintings.

The exhibition has been there for a couple of months now and still has a month left (March. 31st).
I'll link the official site in case you guys want more info or feel interested to check it out. https://hrgiger.mx/

See you next time!!
