Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action Prequel: The Revenge of Scar

On August 20th, Netflix released the 2nd Fullmetal Alchemist live action which will have a second part. This time I decided to watch it on the next day because, idk if you remember but, it took me forever to watch the first one.

Since it's still pretty new, I promise I won't spoil anything. I already had an idea of what to expect but I wanted to watch it, giving it a chance cuz the trailer looked good.

This time the Elric brothers will have to face Scar (along with the homunculus) and, even tho I remembered this character, I forgot about many things from the anime (it's been a while...). Scar wants revenge from the Ishval Civil War where most of the Ishval people where killed by the Amestrian Military, including his brother. Many Alchemists took part on this war so his goal is to kill them. That's the general idea.

We can see characters like Ling Yao, Lan Fan and May, who I remember as a small girl... I didn't remember much about them, I just know Lan Fan will get an automail later in the story, tee he hee.

He's cute

As from the military, we finally see Armstrong and King Bradley along with the others we saw on the previous movie, Riza, Roy and Hughes.

I was SO happy to see grandma Pinako, Den and a little more from Resembool. ♡ I loved to see Winry more involved in the story too and her interactions with Edward.

The previous movie had some emotional moments but I think this one hit me harder, haha. The whole story behind Winry's parents and how they died made me tear up a little. Specially after seeing Ed so involved even if he didn't know much about what happened.

Riza also had a bigger role this time and I have a feeling we'll see more from her in the second part.

I feel like, special effects and hair wise, they did impove if we compare it with the 1st movie.  Edward's hair wasn't exactly natural looking but it was better than before, same with Riza's, still could improve tho. I think Scar looked great and, Pinako and Hohenheim were my favorites. Can't forget about Al tho, he's always the cutest. The effects on some scenes could've been better (specially at the end) but, I don't complain.

I have to say, I didn't have many automail moments in this movie...

Idk what y'all think once you watch it and maybe, just maybe, my fangirl side is the one speaking but, I really enjoyed this movie! Like the previous one, it is loyal to the story and characters, it has lost of action but also a few funny moments (maybe not as many as the anime but, oh well~) and I'm looking forward to seeing the next one that will be released in September, I think.

Anyway guys, that's it for this post, I really wanted to share it because I need to share my obseesion with someone.

Tell me what you think, wil you watch it?

I couldn't find good FMA filters for this post but this one felt accurate. Those who know, know.

I finally watched the Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action Movie...

Ok, I know this movie is not exactly new, it's from 2017. It took me forever to watch it. We all know that live action movies are never that great (unless we talk about the Rurouni Kenshin movies, that is a whole different level). But I love Fullmetal Alchemist, I always have so I knew I was going to watch it eventually despite the bad comments about it. Specially because I saw they will release 2 more movies soon and Izumi will be there. I just love that character so much!

Remember these movie posts are not reviews, they are just a way for me to share my obsession, excitement or just random thoughts. So, let's talk about this live action movie...

To be honest with you, I didn't have any expectation. I watched the trailer when it first came out and I wasn't 100% happy with how the characters looked.

This first movie is based on the first part of the anime, where Ed and Al lose their mom when they are too young and try to bring her back using alchemy. When the y fail, Ed loses a leg and an arm and traps Al's soul into an armor to keep him in this world. After these events, they will dedicate their lives to find the philosopher stone to recover their bodies. They have many adventures and meet many characters along the way.

I love these two and their relationship

The movie is loyal to the anime, I won't complain. But they could've done a better job with some of the characters! Starting with Ed, he is my favorite character. I love how stubborn and short tempered he is but in this movie, I couldn't stop looking at the horrible, cheap looking wig they used! Even the color was terrible!! I couldn't take him seriously. Same thing happened with Riza, she's beautiful but the hair wasn't. Idk why they can't just dye their hair?! or buy a nicer wig~ In my opinion, Lust could've been sexier tho. At least I saw her as a very beautiful and sexy homunculus in the anime.

Not all of them were that bad tho, Hughes and Envy looked pretty good! Gluttony was creepy and that was enough for me. Winry (who is also a fav) had a few changes from the original anime character, but she was ok. I liked her. Alphonse was defo my favorite, as cute as the anime one. Another thing I really liked, and that's something I never paid much attention in the anime were the military uniforms! For some reason they caught my eye, they were well made and looked pretty cool.

Speaaaaaking of cool, LET'S TAKE A MOMENT TO TALK ABOUT THE AUTOMAIL! 😍 I don't know what others think but it was beautiful! I wish they had more scenes showing it. I was hoping to see Winry fixing it after Edward broke it on the first fight but, they never showed it. 💔

Sexy automail!

I found that Ed's automail was displayed in Osaka's Nanko ATC Museum. Somebody take me there!!

The special effects were not that great either. This story has a lot of alchemy, fighting scenes and fantasy characters but the way the effects were made, made everything look super fake.

Even tho it wasn't my favorite movie, I did enjoy watching it, it brought so many memories from the anime, helped me remember details I forgot about and also took me back to the time when I used to watch the show at my grandparents house. The good old days~

The second movie will be released sometime this year and I have a feeling I will be watching it. I really hope they make some changes to improve tho. I know Edward's hair looks a little better. At least from what I've seen in the trailers.

Tell me guys, did you watch this movie? Did you like it? Will you watch the new ones? Let me know!

Rurouni Kenshin The Beginning + More on my old Kaoru cosplay

Hello again from my old Kaoru cosplay ^^

Guyssssss! Last Saturday I finally watched the last Rurouni Kenshin Movie, The Beginning and OMG my heart just can't!

In my opinion it was the darkest and saddest of them all, also felt like the longest one. And even tho Battousai Kenshin was hot, my heart was broken to see him so sad throughout the movie. I even cried, no joke.

This movie was focused on Kenshin's past, when he was Battousai the slayer and met Yukishiro Tomoe, his first love who was also killed by him. If you love RuroKen, you know how this sad, but beautiful in a way, story goes. It is also an important movie cuz it shows the origin of his very famous, X shaped scar and the reason why Kenshin changed from battousai to a loving and caring person.

Like I mentioned in my previous Rurouni Kenshin post, I've always had mixed feelings about Tomoe but I really enjoyed watching her in this movie. She was very well portrayed and well... she was beautiful! Such a lady, hehe. She also had a sad and difficult life after losing her fiance by Kenshin's hand~ I think Kasumi Arimura did a great job playing her.

We all can agree that Battousai Kenshin has a completely different vibe than Rurouni Kenshin and Take-san did an AMAZING job showing that. He played both sides of Kenshin perfectly! My heart was racing all the time as I was watching the movie.

Once again the fighting scenes, which were many more and bloodier this time, were perfect! The characters movements and feelings involved in the fights felt so real!

Last time I forgot to mention the music. I'm not someone who pays much attention to who directs music and stuff. All I can say is the "background music" complemented the scenes pretty well and the songs by One Ok Rock are always great.

Lastly I want to say that yes, I enjoyed watching Tomoe and Kenshin's story but... I NEVER GOT TO SEE A KISS BETWEEN KAORU AND KENSHIN AND WE HAD ONE BETWEEN TOMOE AND KENSHIN!!! 😭NOT FAIR!!!!

This one was definitely one of my favorites and as excited as I was to watch it, it's also sad because it is the last live action movie. I'd really love it if they decided to do one more live action with some Kenji in it. I am 1000% obsessed with Rurouni Kenshin again and I might end up rewatching the show, OVAs and live action movies. Hehe

Now, around the time I shared my previous RuroKen post, someone suggested me to write a post about my "cosplay era", thing is I don't think there was such thing. Cuz when my friends and I decided to do cosplay, it was very randomly and nothing too professional, hehe.

There is a very old post where I shared a little bit of my cosplay atempts that I'll link here, in case anyone wants to check it out.

And well, since my RuroKen feels are back, I went through some of my old pics to find more of my Kaoru cosplay. I'll leave some here.

I look so proud! Haha

And I guess I didn't have many posing options... I look the same in every pic!

Funny thing is, many people keep telling me I look like Tomoe but no... I was supposed to be Kaoru.

Those pics are from 2012!! OMG, time flies. But that day was a lot of fun. Looking at them made me feel a little nostalgic, those were the good old days. :') I'd do many things different if I were to dress as Kaoru again tho.

I remember I dyed my hair black using hair spray paint and... it was a mess!! my hair was stiff and my forehead was all dirty, luckily it didn't show because of my bangs (which are back now, btw).

I was also wearing contact lenses, and they hurt my eyes badly! They were super sore at the end of the day. And even tho my kimono wasn't the real thing (obviously) it was super uncomfortable to walk around all day. I still have it somewhere tho, maybe I'll dress up as Kaoru again one day. For Halloween or something.

Anyway guys, I feel like this post is super long now. Let me know if you've seen the movie so we can share the obsession!

See you next time!

Rurouni Kenshin The Final

LOL. I thought my old Kaoru cosplay would be a nice cover for this post, hehe.

If there is a live action that never (and I mean NEVER) disappoints me is, Rurouni Kenshin. After waiting for a while, the 4th of 5 movies was released back in April. So yeah, I'm a bit late because I just watched it. Busy life is busy! Good thing is, there won't be any spoilers that way.

Like I did with the Sailor Moon Eternal Movie, this won't be a review, it's just me sharing my love and excitement for this movie (and the previous ones).

Where to begin? I love Rurouni Kenshin. I love the anime and the animated movies. I've read a tiny bitsy bit of the manga (in no order) and many doujins. Haha. I have a special love for each of the main characters and their relationships. So of course I was super, duper excited when the first live action movie was announced back in 2011 and after watching some trailers I knew it'd be a great one.

The actors chosen for the characters were perfect, their outfits, hairstyle, locations and fighting scenes were accurate. These last ones are simply amazing! I don't get tired of them (which is weird coming from me). The characters' moves, techniques and emotions are perfect. And I really enjoy that, these films feel so true to the anime! I don't think I could see other actors playing these characters. Speaking of which, these movies introduced me to Satoh Takeru and I became a fan. I've seen him in dramas too.

LOVE YOU TAKE-SAN!! ♡

This latest movie, The Final, shows more from Kenshin's past with Tomoe. He has to face Enishi as his enemy, as he tries to avenge his sister who was accidentally killed by Kenshin. Pretty much the Trust and Betrayal animated movie.

I always had mixed feelings when it came to Tomoe. I like her and I think her story is really sad but, I am team Kaoru and Kenshin forever. I just love them together!!

In a way, this movie feels a bit darker than the others because of Kenshin's past and how it makes him feel; it's just painful and sad and it's hard not wanting to give him the longest hug ever.

The Rurouni Kenshin Movies just keep getting better. Is not like other movies where the first movie is great but they lose quality as they make new ones. And I really can't wait to watch the 5th one.

Let me know if you have seen these movies or even the anime. If not, I highly recommend it! I think it'll be it for this very random chit chat. I might write another one when I watch the last movie. ♡

What I've been watching lately 2021

I'm back with more recommendations of shows to watch, hehe. I think last time I did was a year ago. Truth is, I barely have time to watch shows these days but I think I have a decent amount to share now.

As usual, there'll be a bit of everything, anime, true crime, asian shows and even some local stuff this time, which is a big change for me, hehe.

Let's start with some true crime~

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel

I was very excited when Netflix announced this documentary, because I've always been interested in the Elisa Lam mystery. It is from the same creator of The Ted Bundy Tapes and it covers, not only the Elisa Lam case, but other mysteries from this famous hotel. It is 4 episodes long, it has interviews, real tapes and a bit of dramatization. It also reveals what really happened to Elisa. Defo worth watching, in my opinion.

 Run

Run is an American thriller about a sick teenager that has been isolated all her life and is finally seeking for freedom and suspects her mother is kinda holding her back. She will discover the horrible truth behind her condition as she starts investigating. (my synopsis was kinda decent this time! YAY)

This is actualy a pretty good movie that will trap you til the end. Kinda reminds me of the Gypsy Rose Blanchard case in a way. You can also watch this movie on Netflix.

 Oh! My Ladylord

This one is a romantic comedy starring Nana and Lee Min-Ki. It reminds me of "Because this is my first life" with Jung So Min and, Lee Min-Ki. He plays similar characters in both dramas.

He is a cold writer who doesn't love, who ends up living with a bubbly actress who has a hard time falling in love. The story has cute, funny moments but also serious, dramatic situations.

I really like both actors and the rest of the cast is pretty good too. As well as the supporting characters. It's hard not to feel caught up in the story.

And... the fashion!!!

 Eden of the East

Eden of the East is an action - fiction anime I randomly found while looking for animated movies to watch.
And it's an anime that I wouldn't really choose by myself but somehow it caught my eye after watching the trailer.
At the beginning I thought the story was a bit complicated, it's about terrorism and some actual stuff. Kinda reminds me of Full Metal Panic in a way.
The anime is pretty short, it's only 11 episodes and two movies. I actually started rewartching it again to understand it a little better but, in general, I really liked it.

 Evergreen Love

Evergreen Love is a Japanese romatic movie about a woman who isn't exactly happy with the way her life is. One night she finds a man on the street and suddenly they start living together. He teaches her a lof of things and makes her very happy but, he's always very mysterious and has a secret.

I wouldn't say it is the best movie ever but, it is a good one to watch if you're looking for a light movie to relax.

I was going to include the Sailor Moon Eternal movies in here but there is a separate post dedicated to it, hehe.

Let me know if you've watched one of these or if you'd like to watch them!!

☾ Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie

June 03rd was not only my birthday, it was also Sailor Moon Eternal Day. Netflix premiered the 2 movies and I couldn't be more excited about it. I just loved the fact that they chose the same date as my birthday to do it. Such a cool coincidence, right?

My Sailor Moon cake was perfect to celebrate Sailor Moon Eternal Day!

I didn't watch the movies until the weekend but yeah, now I am obsessed (again). And even tho they were not my ultimate favorite Sailor Moon movies, I really enjoyed them a lot.

I've watched the original 90's series SO many times I can't even count but I only watched a couple of episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal (I still need to finish it) and haven't read the manga because... I'm lazy. 😅 And from what I've seen and read, the story follows an Arc from the manga. Still, it's easy to follow the story and I was familiar with all the characters.
This is not going to be a review and I'm not ogoing to include a movie synopsis because I suck at it. I just want to share my excitement and random thoughts on the movies. It may be all over the place, sorry if there are some spoilers.

I was absolutely happy to watch these movies, especially because some of  the original voices in the spanish dub were back. It was very nostalgic. But this time they used the original Japanese names and the "chan" and "san" which was a bit funny.

The landscapes and backgrounds in the movie are really beautiful and detailed and so are the transformation scenes! In a way I was expecting the characters to look exactly like they did in Sailor Moon Crystal, which wasn't exactly my favorite desing but they didn't. They were prettier. Still, in my personal opinion, I like the 90's designs a lot more. Mamo-chan is gorgeous tho. I defo miss all the funny faces and overreactions we had in the 90's.
I also liked the old moon kitties more... not saying they are not cute now tho.

Hello there, Mamo-chan!

The first part of the movie felt a little slow. It shows The Dead Moon Circus and Queen Nehelenia along with our lovely Inner Scouts and Helios.

In a way, it felt a bit more focused on Chibiusa being Chibiusa and Mamo-chan being sick (which the bestie described as him having COVID, lol) but, we also got to see more of each of the scouts, their dreams and fears. All of them were having trouble transforming and had to defeat the Amazon Trio to get their crystals back and be able to transform again.

I found it cool we get to meet Ami's parents (whom I don't remember seeing before), Phobos and Demos in human form and we see the strong bond between Mina and Artemis!!

This scene was just beautiful!

Something I found totally funny and weird, was Rei's grandpa. He was a completely different one from the 90's anime. He might look like that in the manga tho... idk.

And well, Mamo-chan has his usual attitude, keeping everything to himself and leaving Usagi out of it, in a way, it was sad to admit that he has always been a tiny little bit useless compared to Usagi. (he kept saying it throughout the movie).

As expected from Sailor Moon, we have a lot of friendship messages, action scenes and funny moments along with some romance.

Chibiusa also got her romance with Helios.

At the end of the movie we have a Marvel moment and have a senak peek of what's coming in the next movie... that's my babes, the outer scouts.

The second movie was my favorite, it moved a little faster even tho it got a bit confusing at times. We finally saw the Outer Scouts! I love them way too much!

In this one we see the return of the Outer Scouts and what they have been doing since they separated from the inner scouts also a reunion between Chibiusa and Hotaru.

Their transformations and attacks are really cool as expected. I missed their original transformation song.

THESE TWO THO! I was fangirling as soon as I saw them!! ♡

This movie was a bit darker and Mamo-chan finally found his purpose and power, which made him less useless and showed a lot more of his connection with Usagi. ♡
We also see the Amazoness Quartet in action and past scenes of Nehelenia and Queen Serenity. In the end, the power of love beats everything.

In a way, it was like watching a Sailor Moon S recap in two parts with less filler episodes (I love filler episodes tbh) and things I never saw before.

I love how this show always talks about the importance of friendship, love and fighting for your dreams.

I might be biased but, all in all, I really liked and enjoyed the movies. Sailor Moon was (and still is) a big part of my childhood so, it's pretty cool to see they keep releasing new things related to this anime. And, who knows? Maybe now, that Netflix is involved, we can expect more SM content. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
For now, I want to watch the original Japanese version too.

And that's it for this random Sailor Moon chit chat. Let me know if you've seen the movies! I'd love to read your opinions and share the excitement with you.
