Mon's Kitchen: 炒面 (Chow Mein)

I love Asian food, and for a while now I've been wanting to make some home made Chow Mein. My first dish this year! I should be ashamed, I don't really cook often!
Last weekend I finally had some free time to cook and I was very happy with the results! I cooked for 5 people and they really liked it!

This was my first time cooking pretty much everything so, it took me a while to finish. (I usually buy everything pre-cooked hehe) But, I enjoyed the experience!

Ingredients:
* Chow Main style Noodles (I used Sapporo Ichiban Noddles, I love them!) 1 bag for each person.
* Slim slices of chicken breasts
* Broccoli
* Mushroom
* Water Chestnut
* Red pepper
* Chinese beans

Here we go!

First I started with the chicken, which I forgot to take out of the freezer~ maybe that's why it took longer to cook and stuff. I had to defrost it first in the microwave and then move on to the pan. At first I thought they were overcooked because they looked golden-ish but they had a great taste.
Once the chicken was done, I made the noodles, one by one. Instructions are on the back of the package so, it's pretty easy. It doesn't take much time.

When my noodles and chicken were ready, I cut the chicken into small pieces and mixed it with my noodles and then I did the same with the veggies. To finish it, I added some dried seaweed to the top of my dish.

I'm curious to try Chow Mein with some sea food, I may try that sometime soon.

Witch's Kitchen: Pumpkin Frappe.

Last year I really wanted to make a Pumpkin related drink during Halloween season. Pumpkins are main part of Halloween so I came up with the idea of making my own Pumpkin frappe.

The recipe is super fast and easy to do, ingredients are also easy to find.

What you'll need for this "potion":
* 1 can of Milkmaid sweetened milk.
* Sweet pumpkin. (I don't know the exact name of it, I bought it that way)
* Milk
* Ice

What I did was pretty much mix the ingredients in a blender machine. I made itfor 5 people using half glass of milk, 3 spoons of sweet pumpkin, 2 spoons of milkmaid sweetened milk and some ice for each portion.

I bought cute pumpkin straws to match the drink. Hehe.

Enjoy this Holiday drink!

Witches in the kitchen: Vanilla cookies.

Hi guys!
Last weekend was all about Halloween and horror! I went to (finally) watch Insidious 2 with my girls a.k.a. My Halloween team, we also did some yummy Halloween candy shopping and to finish the day my sister and I decided to make some Holiday cookies. Halloween was definitely in the air. It was fun!

So here's our easy recipe for vanilla cookies.

Ingredients:

* 1 1/2 cups of flour
* 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
* 1 cup of sugar
* 1 spoon of vanilla extract
* 2 eggs

Let's start!
First, preheat the oven at 180 C.
Beat the butter and sugar till it's creamy, now add vanilla and some flour. Keep beating until you get a soft dough.
Make small balls with the dough and flat them, then cut them into the shapes you want. We used some Halloween shapes I bought at Walmart.

Bake them in the oven for 15-20 minutes, let them cool for about 5 minutes and start decorating!

To decorate we used:
* Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Vanilla
* Betty Crocker Decorating Gel Orange
* Betty Crocker Decorating Gel Black
* Betty Crocker Decors "Ghoul Mix"
* Betty Crocker Decors "Monster Mix"
I'm in love with those "Decors" mixes.

There are lots of fun things to decorate cookies with. We are definitely not the best at it but we had a fun sisters time doing it.

Mon's Kitchen: Lemon dessert.

Hey there!
Since I'm enjoying a little Winter break from work I had the time to do this yummy dessert for my family during the Holidays. And, it's a Mon's special! Hehee.
I can definitely say this is one super fast and easy recipe. It takes about 30mins or less to make it. Ingredients are also really easy to find.

This is what you need for this dessert:

* 2 cans of milkmaid sweetened milk.
* Lemons (I usually use from 6 to 10 max. but it depends on how sweet or lemon-ish you want it to be)
* 1 can of condensed milk
* Classic Maria cookies (I've only used those so far but I wanna try using other cookies)

Here we go!

Put the condensed milk in the blender and mix it with the 2 (or  1 1/2) cans of milkmaid sweetened milk, then add the lemon juice and mix again.
Then, in a big plate make a "bed" of cookies, once the mix is ready pour it over the cookies, then comes another "bed" and more mix. Repeat that step til the mix is over.

Put the dessert in the freezer for a few hours and...Voila! Is like having your very easy-to-make lemon pie~

So during my time at the kitchen I had company! My sister Mayis and my furry baby Tinkerbell were there with me, My sis decided to take some pics of the dessert making process so, here are some of the shots.

My little helper got a cookie~ ♥

Sweet kisses! X

Mon's Kitchen: Cheesecake.

I'm a big dessert lover and I always have a fun time making them, even tho I don't do it too often. Last month my cousin gave me a super quick and easy recipe to make cheesecake so I finally had some time to try it out.
There's a funny (and kinda silly) story behind my cheesecake. Cuz during the process I forgot to do something (basic) and I was freaking out cuz my cheesecake wouldn't turn out the way I was expecting it. I'm a mess in the kitchen sometimes! That's for sure. Anyway, second round was all better and cheesecake is all done now.

Ingredients:

* 1 1/2 Philadelphia cream cheese.
* 2 eggs
* 3 spoons of Vanilla extract
* 1 can of milkmaid sweetened milk
* Crumb Crust (in my case, I used a ready to use, chocolate one.)

Let's start!

Put the first 4 ingredients in the blender and mix them all. Then pour the mix into the crumb crust.
Pre-heath the over for about 10 mins. And let the cake bake for about 30 mins.

Once it's a little "brunette" take it out, let it cool a little and put it into the fridge. You can add some Jam or Nutella on the top to add an extra flavor to it.

Enjoy! X

Mon's Kitchen: Soy meat with rice and veggies.

I don't cook often but when I do I like to have fun with what I do. Last weekend I made Soy meat with veggies and rice for 5 people. This was a really easy-to-make and healthy dish. It was inspired on another dish I saw that I'm planning to try some other time.

- Ingredients:
* Soy meat (the amount of meat depends on how many portions you wan to make.)
* White rice
* Vegetables (of your selection, in this case I used carrots, broccolis and cabbages.)
* Salt and garlic
* Cheese (I used Gouda cheese but you can use the one of your choice.)
* Ketchup
*Maggi Seasoning Juice.

Ready, set, go!

You start cooking the meat seasoning it with the salt and garlic. The amount of salt and garlic is really up to you and if you like food to be too salty or not. In my opinion, I don't like it too salty.
Then add the veggies. While they are cooking along with the meat, add some Maggi Seasoning Juice and mixed it all. After that add some Ketchup! I am a ketchup lover, so I was happy to add some of it here. I put Ketchup on everything! Then again, the amount of Ketchup and Maggi it's up to you and your taste. Let it all mix nicely. And finally, add some cheese! As much as you like! I got grated Gouda cheese for this dish so it was easier to spread it all over. Since I love cheese, I used a lot of it. It's yummy. Let it melt and mix it with the meat and veggies.

Once the rice is ready, serve some in a plate and put the meat mix on top.

 Bon appetit!
