What I've been watching lately 2022 #2

It's time for another show recommendations post, Since some people are already enjoying their Summer break, I thought it'd be a good idea to share some of the shows I've watched for the past few months.

This time I have some anime, of course, but there are also non anime related shows and even an oldie.

Let's start!

Jujutsu Kaisen

I started watching this anime because one of my friends and a student were talking about how good it was and were very excited about the movie. So, I was curious. As soon as I started watching it, I just loved it! I think I finished the show in less than a week, I just couldn't stop watching.

This show is a bout a high school student who joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to fight curses. We meet different sorcerers and characters as the story goes by and, in my opinion, there are no plain episodes, there's always something exciting going on. Also, the characters are great and make the story interesting and funny in between all the action.

My "reviews" are never that great so, I recommend watching the trailer to fall for the show hehe. There are also many characters who are husbando (or waifu) material, hehe. Mine is Fushiguro Megumi, of course.

Jujutsu Kaisen has 24 episodes and a new season coming.

Yuru Camp Season 2

I talked about this anime on my previous show recommenations post. Season 2 follows the same storyline. This time the characters are closer tho. I really like and enjoy the vibe this show has.
This season has 13 episodes.

The Girls Next Door Seasons 1 - 5

I don't know if most of you know but, back in the early 2000s, we (meaning my cousin, my sister and I) were obsessed with this reality show that was about the life of Hugh Hefner and his 3 girlfriends living at the Playboy Mansion. The show had 6 seasons but I only watched 5 because season 6 had different girlfriends and we just didn't like them.

I still follow Bridget Marquard, who was my favorite, she has a podcast called Ghost Magnet that I reaaaally like and Holly Madison, who was once Hef's main girlfriend. She has a Youtube channel and since she's been doing reactions on the GND episodes, I felt like rewatching the show. OMG the memories and the feels! Hehe.

I'm not sure if this would be your cup of tea but it's funny how entertaining reality shows used to be back then and how much life has changed as you compare everything in the show with how things are now.

☆ Secrets of Playboy

Continuing with the whole Playboy thing, A&E recently came up with a docuseries kind of show about everything that happened behind the Playboy world according to former girlfriends, bunnies and staff. It is soooo different from the image I had from the reality show. No everything was glam and cool. It's pretty interesting, even if you were never a GND or a playboy fan.

Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop

I kinda watched this movie by accident, I wanted to find something to play while falling asleep and it ended up catching my attention.

This Japanese animated movie is a summer love story between 2 completely diffetent teens who meet by accident at a mall. It also talks about the connection people have with other through memories amd music. It is really cute and I feel not many people knows about it.

The art and animation are different from what I'm used to watch, colors are too vibrant!! But it's defo worth it.

You can find it on Netflix.

Gokushufudou (The way of the househusband)

This anime tells the story of Tatsu, a former yakusa boss aka "Immortal Dragon" who's retired and now lives as a house husband.

The show has 10 episodes so far, each has many mini episodes which makes the show easy to watch. I find it really, really funny. It also kinda cute how Tatsu tries to live as a normal person with his Yakuza background. Apparently, there's a live action too that I'll be defo watching.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

I already dedicated a whole blog post to this show so, I won't go through it  again but, I'll leave the link here.

But, defo watch it! It's so SO GOOD!

Sono Bisque Doll Wa Koi Wo Suru (aka My Dress Up Darling)

My friends recommended this show soooo much and I finally had the chance to watch it. I really enjoyed it!

The story is about Marin Kitakawa, who is a popular hight school students who's (kinda) secretly a hardcore otaku who loves to cosplay and Wakana Gojo, another highschool student who is a bit of a lonely boy whose dream is to learn how to make Hina dolls.

They are complete opposites but is cute to see how they relationship becomes closer and stronger as the 12 episodes go by.

I really hope they release a new season soon!

Thirty Nine

After a long, long time, mom and I decided to watch this drama. It was actually mom's idea and it was defo worth it!

This kdrama tells the story of 3 long life friends who are about to turn 30, their strong bond and their struggles in life. The twist here is, one of them is terminally ill so, part of the story will revolve around it.

Even tho this drama is really goo, I have to warn you, I cried a lot! It shows how true friendships become family and, y'all know I just love that.

And that's it guys, that's everything I've been watching lately. Let me know if you'd like to watch or if you have already watched some of these shows.

Also, feel free to send me recommendations!!

What I've been watching lately 2022 #1

Surpringly, I've watched enough shows to share another show recommendations post. This time I can say, I already finished all of them.

You know that you will find some anime and Japanese shows for sure but, I do have two that aren't.

Let's do this!

The House

The house is a British stop-motion animated movie that tells 3 completely different stories, in different eras, all happening in the same house.

It is an adult movie and it kinda reminds me to the short animations I used to watch in Locotomía from Locomotion many years ago. It has this creepy vibe to it I really liked.

You can find it on Netflix.

Samurai Gourmet

This is another Netflix series about Takeshi, a Japanese man who just retired and as he tries to figure out with to do with his life now, he rediscovers his love for food and the memories each dish or place bring back. Takeshi is also a samurai fan so, he imagines a Samurai's adventures in all the different places he eats in.

I am a foodie so, I really loved this show. You can't help to feel hungry after each episode. The also explan each dish and its preparation whic I find interesting.

Aside from the food, the show feels very lighthearted, it's something nice to watch at the end of the day.

It only has one season with 12 episodes so far, dunno if they will have more.

☆ Aggretsuko Season 4

This is the latest season of Retsuko, the 25 year old red panda who isn't exactly happy with her job and other things happening in her life.

In this season we get to see and learn more about some characters and their lives. I'm a fan of this show since season 1 because, the characters are just so relatable and yeah, cute.

This season is 10 episodes and apparently, we'll have a season 5.

Shingeki No Kyojin the Last Season Part 1

Even tho the previous season was super confusing for me, this one helped me understand a lot more what was happening. As usual, it has a lot of action, sad deaths and unexpected twists. I feel like this show never diappoints, I would've loved to see Levi a lot more tho.

I'm currently watching part 2 and I'm loving it! I won't spoil anything, all I can say is, you have to watch it.

Last season part 1 has 16 exciting episodes.

Yuru Camp

This was a recommendation from the bestie and it was defo worth it (as most of her recommendations). It is another lighthearted show that follows the adventures of Rin, Nadeshiko and their friends as they go camping to different places in Japan.

They always eat yummy things so I'm always hungry when I watch it. I have to say I'm not a camping kind of person but watching this show makes me wanna go camping so bad!! Hehe.

Season 1 has 12 episodes and there's a second season I'm about to start watching soon.

Kimetsu No Yaiba Season 2, Entertainment District

When I first watched the show, I didn't think I'd love it this much. The second season starts where the Mugen Train left and it was as a good as the first one. This one focused more on Tengen Uzui (new husbando alert) and the usual main characters.

I missed Tomioka tho~

This season has 18 episodes. I know it's still kinda new so, I won't spoil anything.

Sweet Magnolias

Sweet Magnolias is one of the few American shows (if not the only) I'm watching. When the first season premiered, mom and I finished the show in less than a week, we were obsessed hehe. So I knew I had to watch the new season as soon as it was out.

This Netflix series is about 3 longlife friends and their lives in a small town. There are 10 episodes this season and to me, no episode was plain and boring. Really recommend it.

And that is it. As always, let me know if you have seen one of these or if you are planning to watch them. I'd love to know!!

See you next time~! ♡

What I've been watching lately (late 2021 til today)

I've been meaning to share this post for a couple of months now but I couldn't find the right time to write it. That's why you'll find shows that I mostly watched last year and others I'm still watching because they're ongoing or I haven't finished them yet. Most of the anime were recommendations from my friends.

They are in no order or genre and most, if not all, of them are anime or Japanese~ hehe.

Here we go!

 Ju-On Origins

Ju-On is a Netflix Horror series based on the Ju-On movie franchise. It's about a paranormal researcher who is investigating a cursed house. Through 6 episodes we can see different curses connected to this house. From what I know, it is season one so maybe they will come up with more episodes eventually.

☆ Cowboy Bebop Live Action

I know many people have mixed feelings and different opinions about this show but, 1: I watched it as soon as it came out and it's part of what I've watched lately and 2: I liked it. I won't talk about that much cuz I have a separate post about it. If you watched the anime, you know what this is about, if not, it is a show about space bounty hunters and their adventures trying to catch good bounties. They have totally different personalities and that makes it fun, plus they are always short on cash. Spike's past plays an important role in  his character, which I love. I know my description doesn't sound too good but Cowboy Bebop was and still is an amazing anime and I really recommend giving the Netflix's live action adaptation a chance. You may be surprised.

☆ Mieruko-Chan

Mieruko-chan is about a high school student who suddenly starts seeing ghosts and the way she has to deal with that in her everyday life. It is only 12 episodes long and it is really good! I really want it to have a 2nd season, there are a lot of things without answers! The ghosts are kinda creepy and some of them even have episodes showing their stories.

☆ Kimetsu No Yaiba

Who hasn't watched this show already? It took me a while to watch it but my friends were fangirling over it so, I decided to give it a chance and I loved it. I watched the 1st season and the movie before the 2nd season premiered. I don't think I'll talk about what this one is about cuz it is one of the most popular anime at the moment. Surprisingly, I'm caught up with the show so far and I'm really enjoying the new episodes.

☆ HoriMiya

This was another recommendation and guys... I'm obsessed! I've watched it like 3 times already. HoriMiya is a 13 episodes show about a popular girl at school (Hori) and a "gloomy" guy (Miyamura) who become really close friends and fall in love despite their differences. It is a romantic comedy that also has a live action version that I haven't seen and old OVA type of episodes back from 2012 I think. I defo, defo recommend this one, you can't get enough of it and its characters.

☆ Shadows House

This anime is completely different from other shows I've seen and it was also a recommendation. It tells the story of shadow people who live in a big mansion and have to use living dolls to express their emotions.  But, there are many mysteries behind the house and its people. Season one has 13 episodes and apparently there will be a second one, just dunno when.

☆ Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi

Aka "My Senpai is Annoying", is a romantic comedy that shows the development of the relationship between Igarashi and Takeda senpai. It also shows everyday situations at work and life in general. It doesn't only focus on these two characters. We get to see more from their co-workers, their life and relationships too. I really loved this show, it's very... lightweight(?). Season 1 only has 12 episodes. It went by too fast.

And I think that's it for now. I might make another post in the future since I'm watching other random shows on Netflix that have been entertaining for me so, yeah. Let me know if you have seen one of these or if you'd like to watch them.

See you next time!

What I've been watching lately 2021

I'm back with more recommendations of shows to watch, hehe. I think last time I did was a year ago. Truth is, I barely have time to watch shows these days but I think I have a decent amount to share now.

As usual, there'll be a bit of everything, anime, true crime, asian shows and even some local stuff this time, which is a big change for me, hehe.

Let's start with some true crime~

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel

I was very excited when Netflix announced this documentary, because I've always been interested in the Elisa Lam mystery. It is from the same creator of The Ted Bundy Tapes and it covers, not only the Elisa Lam case, but other mysteries from this famous hotel. It is 4 episodes long, it has interviews, real tapes and a bit of dramatization. It also reveals what really happened to Elisa. Defo worth watching, in my opinion.

 Run

Run is an American thriller about a sick teenager that has been isolated all her life and is finally seeking for freedom and suspects her mother is kinda holding her back. She will discover the horrible truth behind her condition as she starts investigating. (my synopsis was kinda decent this time! YAY)

This is actualy a pretty good movie that will trap you til the end. Kinda reminds me of the Gypsy Rose Blanchard case in a way. You can also watch this movie on Netflix.

 Oh! My Ladylord

This one is a romantic comedy starring Nana and Lee Min-Ki. It reminds me of "Because this is my first life" with Jung So Min and, Lee Min-Ki. He plays similar characters in both dramas.

He is a cold writer who doesn't love, who ends up living with a bubbly actress who has a hard time falling in love. The story has cute, funny moments but also serious, dramatic situations.

I really like both actors and the rest of the cast is pretty good too. As well as the supporting characters. It's hard not to feel caught up in the story.

And... the fashion!!!

 Eden of the East

Eden of the East is an action - fiction anime I randomly found while looking for animated movies to watch.
And it's an anime that I wouldn't really choose by myself but somehow it caught my eye after watching the trailer.
At the beginning I thought the story was a bit complicated, it's about terrorism and some actual stuff. Kinda reminds me of Full Metal Panic in a way.
The anime is pretty short, it's only 11 episodes and two movies. I actually started rewartching it again to understand it a little better but, in general, I really liked it.

 Evergreen Love

Evergreen Love is a Japanese romatic movie about a woman who isn't exactly happy with the way her life is. One night she finds a man on the street and suddenly they start living together. He teaches her a lof of things and makes her very happy but, he's always very mysterious and has a secret.

I wouldn't say it is the best movie ever but, it is a good one to watch if you're looking for a light movie to relax.

I was going to include the Sailor Moon Eternal movies in here but there is a separate post dedicated to it, hehe.

Let me know if you've watched one of these or if you'd like to watch them!!

What I've been watching lately 2019 | #1 | Netflix, anime & Kdrama

Hello guys and hello Summer break!
I'm sure some of you are already enjoying it but, mine just pretty much started and I thought it'd be a good moment to share some of the shows I've been enjoying.
Mostly for people like me, who won't go anywhere on their Summer break.

Remember most of my show plots or descriptions come from Netflix, Wikipedia and other sites.

Let's start with Netflix:

📺 Rilakkuma & Kaoru:

"Rilakkuma & Kaoru is a 2019 stop-motion animation series created by Dwarf Studio in cooperation with San-X that premiered on Netflix on April 19, 2019."

"Her life might be a little mundane, but Kaoru gets to go home to Rilakkuma, her endearingly lazy roommate who happens to be a fuzzy toy bear."

I think I mentioned this show on one of my favorites before. Like I said, it is such a relatable and beautifully made show. Even tho it is really cute, it has some mature content that I'm sure some of us can identify with.
Even if you don't like Rilakkuma, I highly recommend it, just the beautiful Japanese landscapes make it all worth it.

📺 Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2:

"¿Sabrina exploring her darker side, curious to learn more about her heritage, while struggling to maintain her friendships in the mortal world. Romantically, Sabrina is caught in an unholy love triangle between sexy warlock Nicholas Scratch and salt-of-the-Earth mortal Harvey Kinkle. Meanwhile, The Dark Lord, Madame Satan and Father Blackwood continue to conjure chaos in the Spellman household and the town of Greendale. And they aren’t the only ones trying to raise hell. Everything is in question — relationships, identity, true intentions — when the devil's work is at hand."

It is no secret how much I loved the first season. And even tho I liked the first one a little more, this one is still really good. A little darker, which I enjoyed. I got to love some of the characters a lot more and dislike some that I didn't on the first season.
Yup, now I can't wait to watch season 3!

📺 Conversations with a killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes:

"Present-day interviews, archival footage and audio recordings made on death row form a searing portrait of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy. ... Present-day interviews, archival footage and audio recordings made on death row form a searing portrait of notorious killer Ted Bundy."

Before watching the new Ted Bundy movie with Zac Efron, I knew I had to watch this docuseries. I was familiar with Ted Bundy and his murders but after watching it, I can say he was a fascinating man. Not exactly in a good way tho~
The docuseries is only 4 episodes long and even tho the first one felt a little slow, every episode gets better. I pretty much finished it in one weekend. Defo worth checking out.

📺 Haunted

"Real people sit down with friends and family to share terrifying true stories from their past, re-created through chilling re-enactments. Watch trailers & learn more."

This is another docuseries with only 6 episodes. It's a good watch if you like paranormal stories but don't want to be scared. (The only one that really creeped me out was the Aliens one).
Some, if not most of them have a very unexpected ending.

Ok, let's move on to non-Netflix shows:

📺 Boruto: Naruto Next Generations:

"Several years after the end of the Shinobi War, Naruto's son Boruto is about to enter the Chûnin exams alongside Sarada Uchiha and the mysterious Mitsuki."

Ok, I know this show has some very good and very bad reviews. I pretty much just started it and I have a very long way to go before catching up with all the episodes but truth is, I've been really enjoying it.
I feel like I'm gonna recieve a lot of hate for this but, I love Sakura and Sasuke and the idea of them having a daughter is just perfect!
Yes, it's not Naruto, it's not gonna be the same but, it's pretty entertaining. Plus Sarada is such a cutie. And it makes me really happy to see the old characters there every now and then.

📺 When Time Stopped:

"Joon-Woo (Kim Hyun-Joong) is able to stop time. He meets Sun-A (An Ji-Hyun) who owns a building. After that, he finds meaning in his life."

This man tho ♡
I can't have a show recommendation post without some KDrama and... you know, my love Kim Hyun Joong.
To be honest with you all, this is not my Hyun Joong's favorite drama. I don't even think there's good chemistry between him and An Ji-Hyun. Not saying it is a bad one tho. It is a bit of a fantasy drama with real life situations, comedy and a little romance~

Random note: This was Hyun Joong's first drama after being discharged from the military.

And, that's it for now guys! Let me know if you decide to watch one of these or if you've seen them before.
Also feel free to share with me some of the shows you've been watching so I can chack them out.

Happy Summer Break!! x

My 5 Netflix show recommendations

Hi darlings!
Not long ago I shared some of my mom's Netflix recommendations and now it is my turn. And it's perfect timing since Winter break will start soon for some.

NOTE: Once again, all the shows descriptions are from Netflix and other sites.

Here we go!

📺 Aggretsuko

Retsuko is 25 years old and single, who works in the accounting department of a Japanese
trading firm. Facing constant frustration every day from pushy superiors and annoying co-workers, Retsuko lets out her emotions by going to a karaoke bar every night and singing death metal. After five years of working the daily grind, her relationships with her various co-workers begin to shift and alter her life and personality drastically.

My friend Lu got me into this anime, it is so relatable and fun to watch. Plus, (most of ) the characters are cute looking, because yeah, Sanrio. The episodes are really short so, it's easy to finish the season. I just saw there will be a Christmas special. Can't wait!!

📺 Midnight Diner Tokyo Stories

Midnight Diner is a Japanese TV series based on the manga of the same name. The show

focuses on a midnight diner, the chef, known only as "The Master", and his involvement with his customers.
Generally, each episode deals with a drama focused on a particular customer. The plot will generally offer some philosophical lesson as part of the story,
be it simple or complicated. Some of the stories are lighthearted, others more dramatic.
Each episode will focus on a particular dish, often the favorite of the character that the episode is about, which relates to
the story, and briefly show the preparation of it.

I loved this one. Not only for all the japanese food but, also because you get to see a different story in each episode so, it's hard to get tired of it.
Warning: Be ready to feel hungry after watching it.

📺 Stalkers who kill

This true crime series shows real and dramatized footage of murders committed by stalkers, whether former lovers, co-workers or even family members.

I was so obsessed with this show. I love murder cases and this one made it more interesting with the dramatized footage. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a second season.

📺 Nurses who kill

Top medical, criminal and psychological experts analyze the motives and methods of nurses who use their positions to kill rather than heal.

Similar to Stalkers who kill but I honestly find Stalkers... a bit more interesting. still worth watching tho.

📺 Chilling adventures of Sabrina

The path of night or the path of light? On the eve of her 16th birthday, half-mortal, half-witch Sabrina Spellman has a critical choice to make.

This is my fav of them all. I've always been a Sabrina fan, not only Melissa Joan Heart's Sabrina the Teenage Witch but, I also liked the Disney versions, the videogame versions, Sabrina in general.
I have to accept I had my doubts before watching but the trailer looked dark and, it got my attention. Now I am obsessed! I love its darkarness, the characters, the fashion, the scenery(?) and all that magic! Can't wait to watch the Midwinter's tale and of course, the next season.

That's it for my Netflix recommendations. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment if you've seen these shows or, if there's a show you'd like to recommend.
